Anyone have any insight to the paint hardness on this car? Paint sticker says "BMW-Schwarz 2" and code underneath that says "668/9 Schwarz"

Jet black is the softest stuff known to mankind. (so not kind to man)

Black sapphire metallic, is hard.

Look up some of my really old threads for how to deal with jet black

I'd also suggest reaching out to Mike -aka "Smack" on Autopia, aka "Mike@DedicatedPerfection" on Autogeek. Both of his BMW's are jet black and he's a wizard at keeping them in excellent shape.

I have had a few Jet Black Bimmers and Detailed many, many, more..

If there is no metallic in it, its going to be Jet Black, and you know all about it..

As already said above, and from my experiences with them, the black metallic BMW colors are all hard but not hard as Mercedes cerami-clear..

Doing some research on this the last week. The car I will be doing in an E90. I hear those aren't as bad as the E92. Anyone done both a JB E90 and E92 that can opine?

My plan is to start with PF2500 and white flat pad on the GG6. Going to use the trunk lid as my testing ground to dial in my process. I told my buddy if I can't get it dialed in on the trunk, I'll have him take it to a pro in town and I would only charge him for the decon.

The paint issue is mostly buffer holograms and towel swirls. He's never taken it to a automatic wash with brushes but he bought it used.

Dial it in on a fender, not on the trunk. If you are able to do it on the fender, it will be easier on the flat areas. Worst type to work on, good luck.
