Fresh from the paint shop, we were visited by a fantastic 2009 S5, Meteor Grey / Magma Red interior some potent modifications:
2009 S5, Meteor Grey / Magma Red interior
OEM Black Optics front grille & fog light surrounds
Show 'n Go front license plate mechanism
20x10" MORR VS8.2 wheels, brushed & double tinted clear / 275/30/20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Stasis Ohlins coilovers
390mm Stasis front BBK, matched slotted Adam's Rotors on rear
AWE Touring exhaust w/ non-resonated downpipes
e-code headlights
Euro headlight switch, rear fog wired
"Facelift" 2013 S5 taillights
LED interior/door puddle/license plate lighting
Unfortunately, the car had also been left with some “no-charge mods” from the paint shop. Holograms, buffer trails and sanding scratches had been sprinkled over the car and were driving the owner crazy.
Beyond those issues, the car is tracked regularly and taken to enthusiast GTGs/road trips so a fair amount of brake dust, tar and other grime were present.
Also, this car will be in a car show next weekend at Salishan Resort on the Oregon Coast; I will post updated pictures afterwards.
This S5 was treated to our Level III Major Paint Correction:
*All surface decontamination - Body panels, gaps, trim, glass, door jambs, wheels, calipers and arches - Degrease foam/wash, tar removal, forced air dry, clay, multiple IPA wipedowns
*Wheels and calipers sealed
*All plastic/rubber trim cleaned and sealed
*Tires triple dressed
*Multi-stage paint correction- compounding, polishing, jeweling
*1 coat of sealant, 1 coat of Raceglaze Black Label, 12 hours in between
*Headlights received Opti-Coat protection
*Door jambs polished and sealed
*Interior lightly cleaned, carbon fiber trim polished/sealed, leather cleaned and conditioned
*Engine bay degreased, water spots removed, dressed with protectant
Thanks so much for taking the time to review this project! Comments and questions welcome.
On with the detail…
Exhaust sounded awesome, but needed some shine to match!
After some polishing TLC
Luxuriously soaking in the rich, soapy lather at the auto spa
Nasty machine scratches running up on the right side of the hood bend, deep scratch on the left side
After correction
Array of scratches
After correction
Buffer trails running up the driver side of the hood
After correction
More “paint shop patina”. Quite a few of these defects were inflicted around the panel bends
After correction
Muck on the passenger front quarter
After correction
Driver door sill 50//50
Upper door section sporting “flare” from the paint shop
Looking better after correction
Deep scratches on the roof requiring wet sanding to fully remove.
After correction
50//50 of the trunk deck
50//50 just below the license plate frame
Tails looking scratchy…50//50
With the correction process completed, the car was examined under various lighting to inspect for remaining defects or correction residue. As you can see, it was shining like a mirror at this point, ready for coats of protection
Under strong LED lighting
Sun shots, pre-protection
Interior work…looking clean and conditioned now
Engine shots before
Engine after
Took a car to a local viewpoint at sunset for some additional “bling”
You can see Portland in the background on the left side of this one
