i have a 1975 porsche that i am going to have painted. the oil tank is in the right rear wheel well. there is baked on oil all around the area. i have tried bio-friendly degreaser, but it only took off the light stuff. i also used wax and oil remover, but had to scrub like hell. what should i use? i don't want to harm the paint as i do not want to break the undercoat protection. any suggestions will be appreciated.

Any solvent that will remove the residue will also remove the undercoat as they are both hydrocarbon based.

You can purchase 3M's undercoat in aerosol cans to replace what you removed.

The residue was formed there in layers, a little bit at a time. So, you will have to remove it the same way, just soak with a safety solvent,(if you can't locate one one, use keosene), hit with a wire brush to create small cuts in the residue, respray, let dwell for 10 minutes, wipe, brush, spray, let set, etc, etc.

When all is gone, clean with a prep-sol solvent and apply the undercoating.

My local Aston dealer called me to work some magic on this 2009 Vantage Volante driven by Kevin Connolly from HBO's hit series Entourage.

This car was not as bad as the previous Astons I have worked on in the past but it was still in poor condition.

Thanks for looking.

Love the car (though I would also pick a different color if I had the chance), nice work. I am impressed by how well you get the plastic on the tail lights to come out. :notworthy:

Look who jumped on the blackfire nutsack :hurray:

Its good huh Richie?

Great work on the Aston, I am a huge entourage fan so this is a really cool car for me. Shoots in CA though, how did the car end up in FL?

Good job man
nice looking car, surprised aston hasnt caught on with the concealed/styled key hole. The car looks so beautiful but then you have that unpainted metal round socket

Nice work. I love Aston Martin but I am not really crazy about that color thou.

Thanks. I'm not a huge fan of the color myself but it is unique.

wow nice turn around..that must've been one of the easier jobs.. kewl car

Thanks. This car was not as bad as some of the previous Astons I've had lately.

I love that color. I will be looking for this car on Entourage

It was shown alot during the season finale.

Nice job

Thanks.

I'm with broker, not crazy about the color but nice work regardless.

Thanks.

What can I say, the stuff rocks plain and simple.

My local Aston dealer bought the car at auction.

They also had the Aston that Eva Longoria drove in Desperate Housewives, but the client who purchased it from the dealer took delivery a couple of hours after it arrived so I missed out on that detail.

The car is Bingalicious now, the car is in FLOrida because "The Bing" says so dohh......

:iagree: LOL!

As a detailer (and a man) I'd be hesitant to clean off all the Patina on the driver's seat of that bad boy. :D
Great job on this Aston too Richie!

I love Entourage! Great job on the car Richie Carbone, now you just need to do the Maserati GS from the Soprano's and you will be all set... (Or Adiranna's Thunderbird, that is a seat I would never clean)...

LOL David Fermani... hahah Patina hahahah
