2009 Acura TL

That is kind of blah looking! From front it looks like a Saturn. Looks like a G35 from the rear 3/4 stance, the rear looks like a CLS Caddy. It's kind of got mixed body looks.

I love the last body style.

The price is crazy for what it is. The competition has more to offer.

It seems like companies are losing the manual transmissions.

I love the RL, but the price is just crazy. I would rather have a European car or a Lexus.

Honda does have great reliability though.

Actually... Lexus and BMW are a little more over priced than Acura.

Acura has standard GPS (Top trim for TL & TSX) and HID's while Lexus, BMW and even Mercedes offers that as a package option.

I would not drive a $40k + car without HID's or GPS if that was not standard. To me those are a few things in a Luxury mobile. If you wanted that option you'll have to pay over $2000, but I really love the new designs of BMW and Mercedes. :xyxthumbs

Just wish the 4th gen TL looked a little better.

I think Acura bombed the big one with the new styling for 09'. The front end just looks wretched!! The rest of the car is eh, ok.

Maybe the Bimmer, but you sure about the IS350? If you compare an 08 TL type S, with the stock IS (no Nav), the MSRP on the IS is actually about 2k less. Add the Nav and it is a wee bit more, but you're also getting a car that has 20 more ponies, rear wheel drive and a lot more bang for your buck.

I've been selling Acuras for a few years now, and I think it's going to take me a while to fall in love with this new grille. I really like the 2004-2008 body style.

This is a photoshop i did on our acuralegend forum.

The new 09 TL is getting very good reviews from everywhere and most are saying it looks much better in person and they like it. I notice that with many Acuras that they look much better in person then in pics. The TSX is a very nice looking car when you see it in person but from the pics it appears mediocre and odd. The current TL did not look all that great either till you saw it in person, my dad just got a black 08 and I am polishing it now. Same with the RL, they don't look all that great in pics but look very nice in person especially the interior which is gorgeous. I think this new 09 TL will do very well for Acura and offers SHAWD and some other great options not previously seen. I really like the brown Milano leather option. The TLs have always been alot of car for the money and this new one is no different.

I like it! The front grille needs to have what looks to be "chrome" removed. other than that I like it alot! I think I saw a guy at work this morning pulling in with a black one.

I test drove the standard TL with the Tech Package this past Saturday. Let me just say I under estimated the cars looks. Looking at the exterior in person is a lot better than pics on the internet like everyone said.

As for the front grille... it's not that bad, but if you don't like the grill, and plan on getting a 2009+ TL... I would get the silver because the chrome look to the grill would blend in with the silver paint (as shown on the brochure). The interior is freakin nice.. and the non touch screen navi will be a learning process for since I have touch screen...

Anyway.. to make things short.. I drove the car about 20 miles on the hwy and accelerated up to 85mph. The engine is exaclty like the 2008 TL Type-S. The tech package IMO is a must have. I really like the car, and if I had the money I would trade in my 05 TL.

Fact: TL SH-AWD will be out later this year

TL SH-AWD 6mt will be out next year as a 2010

My opinion: The cars design has grown on me and if I had the money I would wait for the 2010 TL 6mt and trade it in. I like how the paddle shifters are standard for the TL, and how effortless the car punches. I can use 2 fingers and turn the steering whell all the way around without much force. Nice car, but is SH-AWD with 305 a little too much? I think the 280hp front wheel drive is good enough, but I would not mind owning the top of the line TL.

thanks for the review :up i'll need to get an oil change soon, so i'll have to check it out when i'm at honda, since the acura dealership is right next door...

i saw one of these today at the dealership (was getting an oil change at honda) and i didn't care for the big aluminium pieces on the front grill and rear, but i'm sure it will grow on you. it looked really nice from what i saw...

i too saw one in person at the dealership and it is better looking in person than in pictures. good profile from the side but curious cowcatcher type design in front and not sure about the back. interior looks inviting. nice instrumentation, great feeling steering wheel. the multitude of buttons on the center console (maybe too many) are a little tough to see with my aging eyes without readers. tend to like the uncluttered look of an audi mmi or mercedes command button. would like to see a bigger trunk and fold down seats. 19" wheels are a good match for wheel wells. color choice will make a big difference--darker colors will showcase the controversial front grille while silver or white allows it to blend in. the awd to arrive in november will push the price to $43k +.

still not sure why acura takes such a conservative approach with design. saw some excellent concept designs for the TL but sadly none made the final cut. first glance of the profile and its difficult to see much difference between the tl and maxima.

how tough is it for some manufacturers to recognize a design to wow the buyer--especially for such an important flagship model? and what are those focus groups thinking?
