EDIT : GO TO POST #38

THUMBS UP, i TEST DROVE ONE IN COMPARISON TO THE AUDI A3, AND THE INFINITI G35. cHOSE THE AUDI FOR THE HANDLING AND SPORTIER FEEL. THE ACURA SEEMED GEARED MORE TOWARD LUXURY THAN SPORTINESS. BUT A NICE CAR OVERALL. SORRY FOR THE CAPLOCKS.

Acura said not to long ago that they would discontinue the TL due to the fact that the tsx had moved upmarket and they no longer had a place for it.

Love the aggressive stance in "that" picture above and the horsepower that goes with it (309 bhp, if I'm not mistaken) but I'm not a huge fan of the front grille. The MDX can get away with the front grille design that's very similar, but IMHO, the grille on the new TSX (2009) and this TL do not compliment the car.

As an owner of a current TL and an all out Honda/Acura fan, I haven't seen anything from them in the past few years that would make me trade in my current car. By the way, Honda makes a great front-wheel drive platform, but the 258 in my TL should be about the max that goes through the front wheels. This car needs RWD or AWD on all models if the want to put 300 hp in it. Right now, my money goes to Lexus next time I go car shopping.

What it is: The TL remains a very powerful front-drive, Accord-based sports sedan from Acura.

Why it’s important: Acura’s player in 3-series territory offers value, practicality, and front-wheel drive, for those who want it.

Platform: Built off the 2008 Accord architecture.

Powertrain: The 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6 from the 2009 RL will pulverize the front tires in the Type-S, the base model should get the 3.5-liter V-6.

Competition: BMW 3-series, Cadillac CTS, Dodge Charger, Hyundai Genesis, Infiniti G35, Mercedes-Benz C-class, Pontiac G8.

What might go wrong: Buyers may be turned off by the new styling—particularly the grille—or the idea of 300 horsepower going through the front wheels.

Estimated arrival and cost: When the TL goes on sale this fall, it will start at $35,000

This is a really bad photoshop of a TSX. Don't read too much into this image. Hopefully the next TL will look better than that.

Sorry to burst your bubble but among the Acura enthusiasts, this picture of the '09 TL is a WELL KNOWN photoshop fake. It's really a photoshopped TSX.

Here's some "reliable" rumors going around about the upcoming 2009 TL:

1. UA8269JW 5AT. Base model with 17" wheels / 3.5L 280HP

2. UA8659KW 5AT. Technology Package, Navi and Smart key (push button)

3. UA9629JW SH-AWD (like the Base model but with SH-AWD and 18" wheels) / 3.7L 310HP

4. UA9659KW SH-AWD and Technology Package / 18" wheels

5. UA9659KXW Just like previous model + 19" wheels and summer tires...

Also, it's been said the 6-speed manual with AWD won't appear until 2010.
