Since it is getting warmer here in NJ,I am going to take a shot and detail my 2008 Mustang GT Convertible. Going to do the engine for the 1st time. Is there anything I should look out for? Seeing all the great results with CD-2, I think I am going to buy some any give that a shot. Engine is not filthy, mostly dusty. Thanks for the help. John

Just make sure most electric and the alternator is covered and you should be fine. Some would say to cover the air filter too, if its exposed.

 I'm sure people will bust me out for this but I never cover anything. Mist engine compartment & engine spray all areas liberally w/APC (be carefull sprayin APC on fenders tha APC I use does not. but I've seen some that will stain your paint on fenders)get long handle wheel brush and bucket of soapy water and getta srubbin. than mist rinse. I feel this is one of key reason I never have a problem w/engines you don't have to go crazy with water hose. Most all these areas are designed to get a little wet (raining, water gets thrown up there a little) Tha only car you should watch for is VOLVO there spark plugs go into valve cover(head, hemi style) if water gets down there car will not run untill you pull plugs & remove water also be carefull around distribitor area. Good Luck...oh yea don't forget under side of hood. :dcrules

CD2 is a great engine dressing. Not to shiny, not greasy.

You'll want to clean it with some APC before you spray the CD2.

There's probably no grease, like you said, mostly dust, possibly a little road splash.

Please post some pics when you're finished!

:D:D:D

I'll put up some pics. Car is in the body shop.Should get it back tomorrow.Neighbor ran into it when it was parked in front of the house. I freaked out! Everything worked out ok, they paid for everything. APC, what is a good one to pick up? Simple Green?

 If you have to use an OTC than I would get purple power. Dilute 50/50:cool: :dcrules

Not if theres any aliminum parts in the compartment.

SG and aluminum dont play well together.

I agree about the Simple Green... not aluminum friendly.

I use Purple Power, available at Advance or Autozone.

BUT! I cut it 50/50 with water. I never use APC's full strength.

Poorboys APC is excellent if you want to order some.

If it is just a lil dirty and mostly dusty I clean with ONR in a sprayer. I spray and use various brushes and towels to clean and then dry. CD-2 is nice under the hood, so is Meguiars Hyper Dressing and FK 108.
