Time for the twice-yearly big clean of my car!
First, just a quick note about the car. It's a 2007 Honda Jazz in Storm Silver Metallic and is almost identical to the Honda Fit sold in North America, except it's powered by a 1.4-litre i-DSi (twin spark plugs per cylinder) engine inplace of the 1.5 litre VTEC unit and has a different front bumper design due to different impact regulations.
Some products used:
Wash:
Karcher Pressure Wash
Tesco Eco Car Shampoo
2 bucket method with Z ymol sponge
Dried using Meguiars water magnet
Wheels cleaned with Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner
Wheel arches cleaned using Sainsbury’s Basics All Purpose Cleaner (APC) and old Meguairs Microfibre Washmitt
APC and old shoe polishing brush used to clean tyre walls
Polish & Wax:
Carlack68 AIO applied by hand using damp microfibre
Victoria Concours red wax applied using Meguairs foam applicator
Extras:
Door shuts sprayed with APC
Engine bay dressed with Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care
WD40 used to tackle tar spots on the wheels
Carlack68 AIO applied to wheels & exhaust trim
Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care on exterior trim & tyre walls
Interior:
Dashboard cleaned with APC
Dressed with Autoglym Vinyl & Rubber Care (applied as instructions for ‘as new’ look)
Vacuum seats, carpets and mats
Inside glass wiped over with damp microfibre soaked in warm water
PS,
- Sainsbury's and Tesco are British supermarkets (like Wal-Mart?)
- Carlack68 is more or less like Klasse AIO - a paint cleaner/gentle polish/sealant (I heard Klasse is Carlack rebranded for North America?)
- All Purpose Cleaner (APC) is just the cheap household stuff diluted.
Before
The sides of these cars get dirty quickly:
Rear bumper, another dirt trap:
Exhaust trim:
Dead files on the front:
Wheel:
Inside wheel arch (I didn't have time to remove the wheels so the car was jacked up slightly to aid access):
Collection of dust in the interior:
After:
Reflection & flake pop from just the Carlack AIO:
After the vics concours:
Wheel:
Wheel arch:
Exhaust trim:
Engine bay:
Clean interior:
