2007 Honda Civic Type R

It's different I can give it that. I am a Honda fan so I am sure that car will be built very well, handle like a dream, and have some decent performance numbers for a four cylinder engine. Honda doesn't just add a body kit and call it a Type R. They actually put some thought and engineering into it.

If you ever have any questions about it, I have a story for ya!

I too agree it isnt too pretty but hey, Id wait to see how it turned out if it would actually reach production. Hey Spoiledman, I saw a japanese article on teamintegra.net that touted rumors of a new 2008 rsx with the RDX motor and awd. It sounded nice but it could very well be a rumor just like a v10 2008 NSX. I want to see if Acura will really release that sports coupe in the 50k range but god knows when that will happen.

Alex

Is the NSX a rumor? Honda did just finish with some killer F1 development with v10's.;)

I was reading a comparo with the Fit and a bunch of other subcompacts and the Fit gave em a swift kick. The new Si is a very good start and the after market is nuts about it. The 4 door Si is on the way which will just add to the after market love for the Si's. The Element SC is coming in the fall. The RDX(turbo) is on the way in June(?) and it's likely to have some cool power adders in the pipeline. New MDX is on the way for this fall. I see a bunch of goods ready to take a truck leery crowd by storm!

One of these days some car maker is just going to eliminate the side windows and be done with it.

I'm feeling like an old man...loved the 4th gen Civic Si back in the early 90's.

It looks FAT. It needs to lose wieght and slim down. I call it an egg with VTEC.

I like the idea though, a civic hatch Type-R but it looks too FAT and hevy IMO.

also, its way to tall, it should be shorter.

I think there are some things on it that would need changed. But, overall I like it. I have a previous generation Si, and while it's a bit under-powered compared to the competition, at least it was different from all of the other civics on the road. That is the one thing that really disappoints me about the current Si. I don't like the fact that you can't tell an Si apart from a normal civic coupe (at least not like the last generation). I personallly reallly like the idea of the Si having a different body with limited colors. With that said, I'm sure the current Si is a blast to drive. The idea of a four-door Si is interesting, I just wish the sedan body didn't look like it was melting. It just has a wierd body line going down the side.

On a side note, I saw the 5th Gear episode with the Civic Hatch, and I must say that I wish we had some kick *** diesel cars over here. The idea of a diesel with a ton of torque and good gas mileage is more appealing to me than a hybrid with it's undue complexity for relatively minor gains in efficiency.

I agree with you about current hybrids being potentially more trouble than they are worth. The earlier ones were rumored to be subject to hugely expensive battery replacements. I also heard rumors that many fire departments refuse to put out a fire if they believe the vehicle is a hybrid because of the type of batteries used :nixweiss

However, around here diesel is about $.40/gallon more than regular 87 octane gasoline, so I think the most cost-effective way to go would be to get a regular model gasoline car that gets around 40mpg (Corolla, Civic, Cobalt, Echo, plus many more with good mileage).

I think it looks hot! and it will be quick. 200bhp in a body lighter than the previous Type R,

I,m not sure you get the full Type R in USA as I know the 01-05 hot Civic was about 35bhp down on the UK car.

this is going to hit the honda dealerships this fall, anyone likey?

Soon to stun the Si scene in fall 2007, the inspired MUGEN Civic Si Sedan goes from "Formula Sport" concept to a sports car enthusiast's reality. Co-developed by Honda and MUGEN, the Civic MUGEN Si Sedan adds an aggressive dimension of performance to the Civic Si Sedan with a Twin Ring Motegi track-tuned suspension, aerodynamic body styling and a performance exhaust system. The suspension lowers the vehicle by 15 mm with highly aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance. The full-vehicle aero-package adds a front spoiler and sports grille, side spoilers, a rear diffuser and an adjustable rear wing. The lightweight, MUGEN forged aluminum wheels measure 18 x 7.5 inches and include high-performance 215/40R18 rubber. Honda will produce a limited release of 1,000 MUGEN Si Sedan models, which will carry an under-$30K price tag. Honda lovers, rev your engines and get highway ready, because Honda sets the MUGEN free in the fall of 2007.

I mean really, why not lighten the car, kick up the compression a little more, tighten up the handling a bit more, stiffen things up and call it an R?? Price would have been close and there would have been an actual increase in performance. Now the price is in the land of MUCH more performance for the dollar yet you get none. I'd take a TSX and the cash over this. At the end of the day, that *thing* is still just a Civic! No thanks.

i would have to agree as well. when you get near the $30K range, there are plenty of other great options. it'll be interesting to see how it does...

I agree with SpoiledMan. Not only that, you can take that extra cash and dump it into the car rather than paying for a bunch of Mugen mods that will do nothing but give you pointless bragging rights while someone is out there with you on the track taking turns harder, exiting faster, etc.

I think the Civic Si won't do as well now that the Mazdaspeed3 is out and selling pretty well. Right now in Canada though at least, the problem we have currently is that the Si only comes in two door. The only car that is 4 door and has the same engine is the Acura CSX-S which is essentially the American 4 door Si with some other goodies.

But man, that CTR is fugly!!!!!!!

Agreed. Although I've heard "sub-$30". Don't know if that means $25 or $29,999.

But still, a body, suspension, tire/wheel kit alone isn't enough to turn my crank. To even be a blip on the radar, it needs another 30 hp, drop 100 lbs and a limited slip differential. A brake kit might not hurt, but isn't a dealbreaker.

However, even at that, the Mazdaspeed 3 is still the better buy. Not to mention $30k puts you in Evo, STi and R32 range.

But still, I'm certain there are enough suckers out there willing to finance $30k for a Civic with Mugen stamped on it. If only to be seen cruising around and install an audio system worth at least half the car's sticker price.
