Love the rear end and side shots...Not so sure if I like the front yet..Havent really enjoyed the BMW's front ends lately

I don't care for the rear shot-with the tail lights it looks like the trunklid was pulled from another vehicle and mismatched.

Me likes! This comes from a guy that hasn't liked ANY of the current cars! I think it's the cleanest design since the last 7.

They are OK, I'm already growing on the new 330i, although they are becoming as popular as Civics where I live

I think the previous E46 coupe is my favorite BMW design though. I though it was perfect; a nice blend of sport and class, which is what I feel BMW stands for. :)

I agree completely! I think the 335i looks pretty nice, too (at least in pics), but there's something missing. Looks aside, doesn't anyone feel disappointed that BMW took the easy road to performance by adding blowers? As the company that used to refuse to add turbos, yet makes fantastic FR performance cars (unlike Honda, which does the former, *but except for a few examples*, not the latter), I feel kind of let down. :nixweiss

Actually the E46 M3 is a perfect car. Perfect lines, proportion,, size, etc. But I have to say I like the new 335 quite a bit. Its still not as nice as the E46 but beats the sedans and the 5 series cars. I heard price of the 335i was supposed to be around $42k. Since they arent being released until Sept, I may go get on the list to pick one up when they come out. By late fal I should be in the position for another nice car again. This car should easily give the E46 M3 a run for its money, it has 33 less HP but about 60 more lb-ft of torgue.

Just wait till you guys see the 420hp V8 on the M3.

BMW could have easily made 300hp NA. I mean common, LEXUS did. Why couldn't BMW whos been doing it for years. I think the motive is with all the "tuning" capabilities with turbo engines. with little modification, one could easily put out 375hp from the 335i.

Also one of the big bonuses I see is that power will be available both at low and high rpms. So many positives and negatives.

Being a loyal BMW fan I expect this to set the standard once again.

Remember, a BMW non-M car is not a track car, but as someone nicely said above, a mix of sport and luxury.

I think part of the reason BMW didn't make an NA 300hp was weight. More displacement, more weight, harder to balance the car the way they like it.

bmw has used turbos before. the classic 2002 turbo!!

this new 3 coupe is stunning!

I don't feel bad that BMW is using turbo charging. The inline six is a very nice silky smooth engine. The main reason I see for the turbo is bumping up the torque on the high end of the RPM. Their straight sixes are getting a little high strung as is with the 7k RPM redlines, they are developing more HP than torque on the high end, although they pull very well up to redline, very flat torque curve. The M3 makes 333 hp, but it's fairly cold blooded drivers engine and does not develop the torque the competitors are producing Audi, MB. I believe it's all about the drive, not HP numbers or 0-60 times. My Dad has a new Callaway Supernatural Vette with 490 HP, yes it is very very fast, but still drives like a regular vette, just much more power.

I don't think it will give the raw feel of the M3, but we'll see.

I agree completely. I also liked the e46 sedan better although the new one is growing a little on me.

I like what BMW have done with some of the chassis and engine dynamics in their new cars but the Bangle inspired styling is wearing thin on me. The new coupe has a much better "kidney" grills than the sedan (hate the thicker top chrome treatment that is actually on the hood verse being part of the front grill) but the headlights are showing too much Japanese design influence.

I will have to wait and see it in person but from the pictures I do not like the very pronouced "crease" line that follows down the car. It works better in the sedan because the door handles break the line up a little. It remains to be seen weather the whole "flame surface" design is going to age well. To me it has the potential to look really dated quickly.

I don't think there's any question that it *won't*, since it already seems to be pretty much reviled by so many today. Beautiful cars from years ago are not only loved today, but were also respected in their prime (generally speaking, of course).

Ya, I really don't think they will either. Cars like the e46 M3 were almost universally lusted after when they were introduced, and now what I hear most when talking about the new 335i and e90 M3 is "I hope the prices of e46's go down".

It's not ugly at all, quite amazing for a new BMW. (disclaimer...I own a 2001 330i)

Not to push my luck, but to me what would have been a perfect design would be to have taken the e46 and given it a little bit of a retro kick by going with a front end style inspired by the e30 or even the venerable 2002. These post-e30 cars have never quite figured out a perfect solution to the front end IMHO. The classic look of the kidney and the round lights is something I'd like to see again. Maybe in a post-Bangle BMW.
