The Hummer came out incredible, Barry!

The white snow reflecting off the black paint makes for some great pictures!

Looks perfect!

Thanks Rick. I wasn't gonna pull it out in the snow, but I just had to! I knew the snow would look awesome in the hummer.

Great work Barry. Only thing, I wouldn't jack one of those from under the skid plate. If that skid cracks the jack pad is going right through the oil pan. Use the front crossmember :)

Thanks jokeman. I can always use the advice!

Trying to think oof how to type an airplane sound flying over head!

My friends got th bye same exact model and color... Any pointers? And, how hard is the paint? My friends paint is in bad shape and I don't know how much grief I'm in for

Alexshimshimhae- If Barry used Ardex 1000 on a maroon Meg's wool pad (via rotary), I'd assume the paint was at least a bit on the hard side; that's a pretty aggressive combo. Sounds like it's in the "regular GM clear" ballpark to me.

sooooooo lc ccs orange with 205 might leave me working on it forever?

Comparing DA/LC orange/M205 to rotary/wool/Ardex 1000 is like comparing a bb gun to a howitzer. Not. Even. Close. To. Comparable. That rotary/Ardex is way beyond even M105.

*Grumbles* sooooooo in other words these might be the few times i break out my rotary? =[

I suppose wet sanding would be overkill?

and assuming surbuff R type pads and PFW on flex still isn't close... even with I think Menzerna's nano line? (I mean it's designed for ceramiclear isn't it?)

*Grumbles* sooooooo in other words these might be the few times i break out my rotary? =[

I really REALLY hope this job is Flex-able (pun not intended..) and the paint gives into orange/cyan pad with m105...

or maybe I should try the Menzerna Nano polishes? (I mean those were designed for cericlears right?)

and I figured Wet sanding would be overkill...

Man...I REALLY don't want to have to buy the attachments and all that to get my Vector user ready =[

And I can't find info on how hard this paint is (I mean I guess there's a reason why we don't know of too many people detailing hummers?)

Alexshimshimhae- I wouldn't use the rotary unless you've developed a lot of skill with it. What if you instill holograms that you can't easily remove via Flex? What if you burn paint (not likely IMO, but people do it all the time)?

Lots of polishes are made for use on ceramic clear...not just Menzerna. M105/M205 are also made for that.

[shrug]...you'll probably run into a lot of vehicles where you won't know what to expect; even repaints, where different panels are completely different. Heh heh, think of it as a learning experience.

Eager to get a test spot on the car to clear this once and for all; I'm starting to think it wont be TOO bad..the other two hummer write ups didn't seem to have TOO much trouble with more conventional approaches .. so I'm assuming Barry's was just a case of previous detailer REALLY mauling the car?....hopefully?

How'd I miss this one the first time around? Maybe I just commented on another site. The after pics are great and she sure had a beautiful turn around! Talk to you soon bud!
