2005 Black Corvette Makeover

Excellent detail, write-up and pictures as always! :bow

Booked another one with her already, eh? Doing good work and having them come back sure beats having to constantly drum up new business.

Very nice writeup. Thanks for taking the time of such a detailed description.

Why didn't you go with the 7006 pad when using #83 instead of 8006?

Thanks everyone! I'm about to post another writeup, a little less detailed, but primarily to show what I did with a Mother Powerball on some custom wheels.

As for the W7006, I didn't need that much cutting action. I used the swirl finder light (Dual Xenon) to see the defects. I did a test spot, and found the rotary buffer with a W8006 pad and M83 was all the cutting action I needed. I always use the least aggressive method necessary.

Just excellent work! How long did the full detail took you? When you do details at the customer house do you use their power/water/electricity? Do you make any kind of adjustment on the price because of that?

Well I started at 9 30am and finished at 8 30pm, so 11 hours.

I used to worry about the power, water issue but not anymore. If I don't have access to water, I have alternatives. Either QEW (Quick Easy Wash) which is basically a sponge bath, or I built a small pressurized water system from a 2.5 gallon bug sprayer that feeds into my pressure washer. From there I can fill up 2 5 gallon buckets to refill the bug sprayer when the water runs low. The reason I don't have a traditional water tank is my decision to use my MINI as my detailing rig. I did purchase a small trailer and have considered towing some of the gear. My portable electricity comes from a 2000 watt power inverter. It runs the PC just fine, and just barely runs the rotary buffer. I have to start it at full speed, then back the speed down, otherwise it won't start. These are backup systems though. On Monday, I'm doing a detail at an office, and they claim to have accessible water and power. Guess I will see how true that is.

No I don't provide discounts. The customer is understanding of my needs and normally comes off a referral, someone who is ecstatic about my work, and is ready to provide whatever I need. In some cases, I was even provided catered food throughout the day!
