2004 Silver Cavi vs. Shiney

Recieved the car yesterday after the Lexus, and set to work washing, claying, and detarring.



I was happy that the hard part was over, as it was covered in oilly mud and bugs from a trip to Ottawa (3000km?).



This was a full detail.



Before:

No before shots of the engine bay.

Processes for exterior:



Wash

Clay

Polish with SSR2 and cutting pad

Top with Klasse and SG

Klasse twins on rims



Enginebay:

Scrub with Varsol dilution

Top with Tire shine



Interior:

Oxyclean spot touch on carpets and matts

Remove oils from vinyl

Topped with Poorboys Natural Shine

Windows were cleaned with Windex and two microfibers (I couldn't get them totally streak free when looking from the outside, but when driving against direct sun, you couldn't see them from the inside.

What's the piece of paper on the floor in that after shot? Just a regular 8.5"x11" piece of paper with your logo on it? Or is it stronger paper to work well as a floormat?

I just use that as a thing so I don't remove the vacuum/extraction lines off the carpet. Its usually replaced with a nicer one. But as far as the one you see in the pictures, yes its just a regular 8.5"x11" piece of paper. Most of my customers know that I'm not a huge business, and they agree that it adds a more personal and professional touch.

Regarding the windows, you should give a glass polish a shot. Over time, if windows aren't cleaned, the oils don't always come out with a cleaner. A glass polish or AIO type polish will sure fix this right up.

I've found that in the absence of my Z12 glass polish, Meguiar's Deep Crystal System has a great solution: the Step 1 Cleaner. It seems to get everything squeaky clean.



I've also used a claybar with some level of success on glass. :woohoo:

True. I am thinking of having a box of the plastic-like floormats printed up; it should last me for a few seasons' worth of customers.



Right now I usually just throw down a fresh shop rag (those red ones) on the floor while I'm getting in and out of it to protect the carpet, and remove it right before the customer comes to pick it up (or just before I let the owner see it if I'm delivering it to them).
