2003 Redrock Pearl Honda Pilot Detailed

Up for detail today was a 2003 Honda Pilot in a beautiful Redrock Pearl color. The owner found me on the forums drove about 90 minutes to have the work performed.

The vehicle was reasonably dirty with a decent amount of swirls, but the biggest area of hurt was the plethora of fallout on the horizontal surfaces. On the hood and roof, I could barely move the clay. A 6" x 6" spot yielded 4 kneads and still, was only about 95% clean. The paint and glass chewed up a half bar of Meguiar's Overspray clay.

The interior wasn't anything too bad. I am working on my steaming techniques, so it took a little long (2hrs), but came out really nice. My finals were:

-Kids & Pets to pretreat

-Steam clean entire interior

-303 Aerospace on vinyl/rubber/plastic

-FK1 #425 on glass/trim

-TOL Tire Cleaner cut 1:1 on tires/wells

-Amazing Roll Off cut 2:1 on plastic

-Optimum Polish via rotary and LC Cutting Pad @ 1400 rpm x 2

-Menzerna FPII via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1500 rpm

-Zaino Z5

-Zaino Z8

-CG VRT cut 2.5:1 in wells

-Meguiar's Insane Shine Tire Dressing on tires (applied with an EO Tire-Swipe leaves for a nice sheen)

-Meguiar's ASD on trim

nice work as always...how do you like OP with the rotary? my only complaint with IP and Rotary is the dusting and i know OP doesnt dust much at all when used with PC

Thanks all.

hadboost: Let's not talk about it :lol.

03: For cut, I'd rather use IP, but I HATE dust. I sacrifice a little cut for no dust with Optimum. Its a very good polish but could use a bit more bite. I haven't found Opt Compound nor Hyper Compound to fit well in my arsenal.

Wow, I missed this, looks great!!

Sean, do you prime the pad with QD before using FP-II? I have noticed that it dusts *much* less when I do this????

You use the LC VC pads, correct? I just ordered a few from TOL to try out. Where do you place the product on that pad? I have only used flat pads so far....

Joe: I never get dust with FPII, but then again, I don't work til transparent, but rather translucent.

I used 7.5" concaved LCs, yes. I put a thick, short line of polish on the panel and work it in slowly.
