I knew I had my work cut out for me on this one, but it was fun and a learning experience. I would say that I was able to remove about 85 to 90% of the defects.

The best I can remember, this one has not been waxed in 2 1/2 years or so and has not ever been completly detailed since delivery back in July of 2003. Sorry no full car shots of the after, too many cars in the way to get a good full car after shot.

Process:

1. Wash

2. Hi-Temp EC with yellow cyclo pads buffed off by hand

3. NXT with green cyclo pads buffed off by hand

4. Dressed tires, wheel wells, trim, etc..

5. Cleaned engine bay

Dang, that's amazing! How long did that one take you?

Actual work time, about 3 hours on the paint and 2 hours on the rest of it. Total of 5 hours work time just on the outside and enginebay.

The before pics made me queasy. Gross!

Beautiful after shots, you made it look brand new. :)

Excellent choice using NXT, it seems like it was made for medium to dark blue paint.

what did you use to clean the engine?

Here is my process on the engine.

Once the engine was warm to the touch, it was sprayed down with an apc from Top of the Line. Here is the link to the product used. This was mixed 5 parts apc to 1 part water or 5:1. Nothing was covered when the engine was detialed, just make sure you are careful around the electrical connections and you should be okay. The apc was left on the engine for about 5 min to allow it to do its job and then it was washed off with a pressure washer on low pressure. The underside of the hood was washed with high pressure. Once this was done, the hood was closed to allow the heat from the motor to dry the engine bay. About 10 min later the excess water was wiped off and the entire engine bay sprayed with a OTC tire foam. This was allowed to dry for about 45 min or so and then a final wipe down of the entire engine bay to even out the finished looked. The underside of the hood was wiped with a spray wax around the edges. The actual work involved in cleaning this engine bay was only about 15 to 20 minutes.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Was it really 5 parts apc to 1 part water or the other way around.

You are right it is the other way around. That is what I get for typing this thread up at 3 in the morning. Thanks for the find. Sorry for the mis information.
