I thought I'd show a picture of my 2002 Camaro Z28 since this is my first post on this forum. I've been an avid autocrosser for many years but still like to keep even my race cars in a show quality condition. I've been a lurker on this site for some time and finally decided to come out of hiding. I've learned a lot from you guys and wish to express my thanks.

Exterior has been treated to SFX polishes, AIO, SG, and S100.

Picture was taken at The Tire Rack test track at an event put on by The Chicago Audi Club. The car took fastest time of day honors at this event.

Red always looks great when detailed properly. Your wheels look good too.

I'm not familiar with those cars, and it looks like a weird place for an intake. Then again what do I know, except the engine bay looks really clean.

Beautiful car.

What products did you end up using on it???

Klasse and P21S/S100 always looks good on red, imo.

Thanks guys. I bought the car used. The previous owner made a few questionable mods like the K&N intake. F bodies will make better power with a good aftermarket lid. I happened to find this car a couple of years ago in the car corral at the Auburn fall auction. It had about 4900 miles on it when I bought it. The underside and wheel wells are as clean as the topside. I'm pretty anal about a clean car, but when I drive it, it's driven hard.

What a beautiful car. I wish my buddy kept his '99 Z28 hardtop like that. His isn't bad, but it has its flaws.

(That's his car, in my shop.)

A B4C offers no special items except for the lack of TTops. The wheels look to be Y2K's from a Corvette.

Yes, this is correct. You could order a hardtop coupe from the factory without it being a B4C; the t-tops were a few-hundred dollar option. I've seen more than one HT CPE car that wasn't a B4C. Those do look like 2K1 C5 wheels, too. :getdown

The wheels in the picture are in fact Y2Ks. I currently have a set of ZR1 17x9.5s with 275/40/17s for the street and use 17x11 ZR1s and 315/35/17 Kuhmo 710s for the track. It's not a B4C, but instead a base model Z with no options. This thing even has roll up windows. I think the guy that ordered it new was trying to save weight or was just cheap. It's very similar to the 95 1LE I used to own. It's pretty hard to find one of these cars without T tops. When I first show up at an autocross where nobody knows me, most people just kind of laugh at the Mulletmobile. Usually at the end of the day they're not laughing quite as hard. It's kind of fun humiliating some of the Porsche and BMW drivers. From the outside the car looks like a stock secretary's special.

I did install 3M stone guard on the full length of the rockers and behind the wheels to protect the paint from debris thrown off the race tires.

:2thumbs: That's awesome. Closest thing you can get to a COPO 4th gen, base LS1 car with no options. Sounds like the ideal platform to start with for auto-x (assuming the very first mods are SFCs and an STB)

It really is funny how the hardtop cars hold value so much better than t-top or convertible cars, too. :chuckle:

That is incorrect. B4C cars received the same control arm and panhard rod bushings as 1LE cars.

Mighty fine picture!!!! It looks really good. Anymore?? Oh and welcome from a fellow fbody/detailing fanatic!!!
