This was a drive-by customer. I was detailing a family friends Black Tahoe, when another Black Tahoe stopped to ask questions. (ok, the guy driving asked questions, not the Tahoe
)
I tried to book him there on the spot, but he insisted he would call. We all know how those go 90% of the time.
Well, he did call me Friday, and set up an appt. for this morning. Wanted an exterior detail only.
Talking to him on the phone, I was told they went on a road trip over the weekend and drove through a construction zone. The price went up when he said that...LOL....jk. Oil/tar made its way on the truck. No big deal........so I thought.
When I showed up, the truck was pretty dirty. I seen the tar and oil. Wasn't too bad, until I washed the truck. Worse exterior ever. Pics will show. Not one inch was free of the stuff. Apparently, they had spent 2 hours trying to get it all off. Looks like they got a bit of it, but induced a zillion swirls and scratches. The whole truck had a texture to it. Whatever was used to wipe the tar/oil, dried on the truck also.
I tried clay.....the clay laughed at me. So, the whole truck got an Al-Sol wipe down. Al-Sol is about the same as Prep Sol (solve) However you spell it. Took about an hour doing the wipe down before polishing. The only spots that I could not get to, were in the emblems. Horrible!
I did manage to upsell from a exterior to a full detail.:awesome:
