2002 Jeep GC Project...

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
The owner of this daily driver hardly ever even washes her !!! I did not think the chrome wheels could even come back as well as they did. The Black Metalic Paint cut really cleaned up nice with Meg's Speed Glaze after a thorough clay and wash. I sealed her with Poorboys EX.

I spent about 25 minutes on the wheels and was forced to use AM's Spoke to bring them back !!!

The interior was pretty bad, and the air compressor was working overtime to get all the crud out of the interior crevices...

WOW! That is some transformation Dean. Those wheels looked polished not chrome to begin with, I am amazed. Great work on the interior as well.

You keep outdoing yourself Dean!

How aggressive is AM's Spoke? Safe for all but uncoated rims? Can I use it w/o a pressure washer?

Great work Dean!!
Nice job on the interior.
I too use spoke, and think if you careful enough (goggles, gloves, etc) it is the best wheel cleaner.
Tell us how you use rotary when it is below 0 outside. Any special tips.

Dimedrol

Being a jeep owner that is sick. The center console was just pure hell, makes you wonder how could people ever let it get that bad. Looks like mold almost started to form. As for the wheels jeep wheels tend to look like that after a few weeks the rotors give off a wierd yellow/brown fallout espacially when its wet/snowy out it gets all over the wheels.

This is how my Jeep looks almost all year round.

August 2004: May be rememberd from the Jeep Day thread. Thought this would be the right place to post. :)

:bow Perfect!

3 Quick questions

1. What was used on the wheel wells? They look great.
2. What was used for the interior center console? APC and PB dressing?
3. Any problems using #80 and sealing with EX? I use #80 and have yet to top with EX-P due to potential bonding issues.

Thanks

Jon, My method for carpets is slight presoak then afterwards I take Meguiars APC+ 12:1 with 4:1 (for spots) spray down. Then I then scrub real well, I dont use to much APC as it takes forever to get out of the carpets if you over do it. After I scrub it sits for a few then I take my heated extractor and suck up all of the water/apc/dirt. The carpets dont look that way after extraction so I take a small brush and go over the carepts to make them look perfect. You can do the same with a shop vac or a bissel heated carpet spotter.

The carpets you see there rarly get extremly bad as I keep them clean. Each time I do it the water comes out looking like chicken soup.

Clean Dean real nice work.. Scrub cant answer for Clean Dean but I use Meguiars Engine Kote (which I do not like) because of its low shine and uneven spread even with the best bottle/trigger. I sometimes use a waterbased dressing by automagic I got from a friend I forget the name. I am going to order Meguiars Hyper dressing this season though its a very good water based dressing good for tires, wheel wells etc..

Clean dean a little word of advice on your next Jeep GC Detail. To get the majority of the wrinkles out on the seats. I spray them down with APC+ 12:1 then use a stiff bristle brush and scrub then just whipe in a few minutes the leather will feel damp/wet and it will start loosing its wrinkles. Then by the end of my detail I go in and condition with my favorite conditioner. Always play it safe and test an area somewhere in the back for color fade better be safe then sorry. This is the way I do it as you can see my almost 7 year old seats have almost no wrinkles in them.

Thanks Fr0zen!

I use Meguiar's All Season Dressing or #40 for wheel wells now. I've tried the hyper dressing but it doesn't last very long in that environment.

Any comments on cleaning before dressing?

I spray down the wheel wells with APC+ 4:1 scrub then pressure wash wait till they dry. Then spray down with dressing real well. If you have the correct dilution for hyper dressing it should last until it rains. Whats good is it wont leave a bunch of grime and stuff behind so clean up later is easy. Since you are going to wash and clean the wells anyway it doesnt matter if it lasts forever.

Really nice job there m8! That interior needed a hero to save it and you came just in time. (That before pic makes me want to vommit)

Kind of looks like what that was to me. Still unbelievable!

BlackSunshine... Wheels were cleaned with an 11" wheel brush. This brush is a MUST HAVE for effective wheel cleaning.

The Woob... APC + A couple of different brushes + Compressed air + I used Stoners Trim Shine then buff with a MF to give less shine.

GSRstilez... Spoke is not very safe at all !!! I never use on Magnesium or aluminum wheels, but can be used on coated wheels if you do not let them sit on them (especially on a hot day) !!!

scrub ... On the wells I used Red Heat + agitate then pressure wash. I dressed with Dealers Choice Water based dressing. #80 and EX never seemed to pose a problem as far as protection.

Fr0zen... Thanks. I have just picked up 5 gallons of Hyperwash. Any thought on that product? I never tried it out.
