This one may be a DSL/IE killer and instant death to 56k...sorry!

Continuation of this thead: http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=78478

This time with my pictures and full process/products.

I went down to Austin again, the Z06 I was supposed to do last time was finally finished and they had 4 other vehicles lined up.

This is what we started with on day 1:

As you can see, the Acura and Corvette aren't too dirty, the A6 was filthy.

The A6 has had some body work and a crappy buff job. Halo and rotary swirls...and hard Audi paint. Luckily, Audi black doesn't seem quite as hard as their other colors and the combination of Optimum Compound and orange Cyclo cutting pads did a great job with minimal hazing. I followed with Optimum Polish using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads and followed with the soon to be released Optimum Opti-Seal (not sure if that is the final name) using white Cyclo finishing pads.

It was very late afternoon when I finished so no full sun pics (there is one that isn't that great in the link to the initial thread) but I did about half the car in the sun to make sure my process was removing the swirls and finishing out properly.

The interior was pretty rough up front, some spills and very dusty. I got a few new interior products from fellow Autopian Grouse to try, so the carpets got Bio-Kleen's Traffic Lane Cleaner (I believe that is the correct name) and it does an excellent job-on the mats, you could spray it on and watch the stains melt away! The rest of the interior surfaces were cleaned with Woolite/water and the interior was dressed with Optimum Protectant Plus.

This same process was used for all interior pics in this thread.

2001 Chevy Corvette Z06 Twin Turbo. 600 hp on 93 octane, 950 hp potential on racing gas and more boost. I got a ride and believe me, 600 hp in a 3100 lb car is absolutely insane! Pulls much harder than a stock C6 Z06, especially as the speed climbs. If I had the $40k the owner is asking to spend on a toy, I'd be out driving it right now!

The engine was cleaned with Optimum No Rinse (wasn't very dirty anyway) and dressed with Armor All.

The Vette has only 22,000 miles on it and has been in the shop nearly 2 years for the engine work so the paint was actually pretty good. Some marring on the very front end and both front fenders from people working on the engine, the rest was very lightly swirled. Optimum Polish using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads and Opti-Seal using white Cyclo finishing pads did an excellent job on the finish.

2003 Acura TL Type S. Beautiful blue color, wish I could have finished it in time for some sun shots but fall is here and no more 8:40 PM sunsets....

Very good overall condition, same process as the Corvette, Optimum Polish/Poli-Seal.

==========

2003 Ford Sport Trac. Excellent condition other than being dirty. Very minimal swirling, a few light paint transfers. I figured I'd test the cleaning/polishing ability of Poli-Seal alone on this one. Even using a blue Propel finishing pad and my PC set on 4.5, I was able to remove the couple light paint transfers and the very light swirling was no longer visible after using Poli-Seal. It does have some very light filling capacity, maybe a touch more swirl removal ability than Vanilla Moose. Works in well, almost disappears and wipes off effortlessly, slightly darkens the finish too. If the durability holds up well, I imagine I will be using this product a lot!

2006 Trailblazer SS. I had washed/OCW'ed it early this year when the owner was at UTA (Arlington) and now he is down in Austin at UT. Since that time, it was in an accident but happily for me, he used the body shop I recommended and they did an excellent job on the front end. Overall, the paint was in excellent condition. I used Optimum Polish using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads and a blue Propel finishing pad and my PC to apply Poli-Seal. I find the PC easier to use to apply LSPs than the Cyclo.

The metallic burgandy looks completely different in the sun vs the shade, luckily I had both conditions to take pics.

2003 Lexus RX300. Lots of sap from parking under trees, a few paint transfers but otherwise not too bad. Like most of the vehicles in this thread, OP/P-S combo (same pads too).

It was time for my car's fall detail. It had been 6 weeks since I'd even had a chance to wash it so I was pleasantly suprised to find the paint was still in pretty decent shape. The hood and trunk lid got Meguiars DACP using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads, then I went over the whole car with a 70/30 mix of Menzerna 106FF and Clearkote's Red Machine Glaze using green Propel lite cut Cyclo pads, following with Pink Moose (50/50 Vanilla Moose and RMG) and topped with Meguiars #16. The next week, I washed my car with Optimum No Rinse and added a coat of Clearkote's Carnauba Moose Wax.

Today, I washed it again (all dusty from the air show on Saturday and the Austin trip) and went over the car with a 50/50 mix of Optimum Car Wax and Werkstatt's Carnauba Jett...and actually had some sun to take pics in. :)

Scott,

Cars look as good as always. Any idea when the Optimum sealant will hit the market? I'll be following your durability reports and hold off on buying any other products until it hits the market. I've been so happy with the polish and the OCW, that I will try any Optimum product that hits the market. :D

Great job yet again Scott :2thumbs:

I believe Patrick is showing the new Poli-Seal on his site...but only in gallon sizes.

Patrick dont forget reserve one for me :xyxthumbs

Scott- you make it look easy....thank you for sharing and giving us ideas...(.by the way what do you use on the windows wax or sealant ,brand, how many layers j/j)

i wouldnt mind owning a corvette ZO6, but recentlyr i detailed a slightly modified BMW M5, i would save my pennies for the M5 instead of the Z06........

As usual great job, Scott. What's the dilution ratio on Woolite?

I've been playing around with it a bit but 10:1 seems to work best.

Djmigs-I just clean the glass with Meguiars NXT Glass Cleaner using 16 x 24 waffle weaves I get from my Optimum distributor.

Ric-My understanding is that Poli-Seal will only be available by the gallon. Probably enough to last the average person several years.

Absolutely stand up work as always, Scott. I absolutely love the TT Z06, Ive rode in a single turbo Mustang GT before and it was a neck breaker, I can only imagine what a TT 'vette feels like.

Where do you buy your woolite at? Ive been casually searching for it whenever I go places but haven't been able to locate any. Ive found some Folex on ebay, but I would prefer Woolite.

Keep up the good work, it gives us all something to aspire to!!

Scott,

? 4ya regarding about Opt PoliSeal....if i remember correctly it a one step light swirl and carnuba/sealant....now i currently use Megs 66 for one steps and so forth only thing i sometime dont like abnout 66 is when is dust at times....i know Opt line doesnt dust which is beautiful....Will Poli seal be dependent on what pad is used for example a finish pad will not cut so nuba/sealant will perform here but if used with a cutting pad or polishing pad it will remove swirls and prrotect....

also i know it stated like swirls do you find that to be the case for example if you used an aggresive pad or mild will it remove more defect....does this have a long working time like it relatives....seems like you have been mixing 50/50 and so forth how the outcome and why do this?, compare to your pink moose and other combo....do you use a small amoutn of this product like OP,OC,OHP....

thanks Scott :xyxthumbs
