2000 Honda Civic Detail.

Friend of mine's 2000 Honda Civic. Although I loathe ricers, this one is actually pretty badass. Pretty tame yet pretty damned zippy. Toned down Flowmaster pipe, completely built from the ground up VTEC motor. Somewhere in the area of 200hp naturally aspirated. Fun to drive. After driving my TBSS all the time, it feels like a big go kart.

All together, about 18 hours. I was able to achieve about 70% correction. Most of the scratches were deep and impossible to remove without some major surgery.

Dawn wash to remove wax

Blow dry

claybar

Griots RO

Meguiar's M105 with Yellow Lake Country Pad

Meguiar's M205 with Tangerine Lake Country hydro-tech

Zaino Z-5

Z-6

Z-8

Opti-bond tires gel

303 Aerospace on the interior

Got started on it late at night, no dirty before pics.

He wanted to remove the emblems while we were at it. They had been glued on with some crazy **** glue. Sucked to remove.

Alright, lets see what we're working with here.:faint:

Some of the scratches were into the primer, so I touched them up per Todd's article in the how to section with a fine detail brush and then sanded them level with the paint, so they didn't look like what your usual touch up looks like. Which is usually worse than the scratch to begin with.

50/50 shot.

3 passes on the trunk lid. Was kinda depressed at this point. I was really hoping for some better correction. After a while, I realized it wasn't so much the lack of correction so much as most of the scratches were just really deep.

Dawn wash to remove any left over oils from the polish and get a nice solid base for the Zaino application.

Blah blah blah, on to the sun shots. Maybe if I skip a few shots, I can keep from exceeding my bandwidth again.

Looks great! That was a tough job for sure, but you made it look amazing and added substantial value to the car, IMO.

The wheels seem small on that car. Are they 16s or something? Maybe it's just the lack of a drop on the car or the offset.

Oddly enough, the guy that owns it is not a big ricer fan himself, in the context of what you would picture when you think of the ricer culture, ala Fast and Furious. He likes to keep it tame and semi-low key. He actually ordered the 17's to begin with but changed his mind and traded them back for the 16' with a taller side wall. It actually looks really good in person. But it does seem to look a little out of proportion in the pics.

Even though you didn't get it as far as you wanted, it still came out vastly improved. I'm sure the owner was excited to see it.

Well done.

Looks great!

What did you use get the glue off from the emblems and did you use something to plug the holes?

Could you link me to the touch up paint article you mentioned that you used?

I actually had to scrape the glue off with a butter knife. It was hard as a rock and it chipped off better than it scraped off. At the right angle the knife chipped well and didn't dig into the paint.

I sanded the area well to remove anything that may have gotten unlevel from the scraping.

Here's the article I talked about. Very cool! Don't plan on being good at it for the first few tries. At least that was my experience.

Did you plug the holes left by the emblem with something? It looks like it left holes from the pics.

Thanks for the link, def awesome tutorial!

No, I didn't. I told him they were still gonna be there and he was gonna look for some rubber grommets or maybe even put a new emblem on if needed.

The old emblems had been removed and painted flat black to match the wheel, but they had faded and chipped and looked like crap.
