2 Details...had some questions....with pics(new with camera)

This weekend was pretty busy as far as detailing goes...I had a civic on saturday and a 82...with untouched 82 paint on sunday.... :confused:...The civic had been resprayed couple years ago and the painter "forgot" to do the top of the car... :bsflag ...But I used some different things....

First I got access to a variable speed polisher that helped me tremendously...so the steps were

1.Clay
2.Megs #9 at 1500 with Meg polishing 6" pad
3.Collonite Insulator Wax....really like this wax....

I used

1.Clay
2.Megs #9 @1500 with Megs polishing pad
3.Sealant..Megs #20...first time using

I think that I should have used diamond cut after the first step....then the following...I am learning these new products....but I definately will/and appreciate any comments...I definately believe in having an open ear...

paint was in real bad shape I think that it will definately have to be wetsanded but on 25 yr old paint...I dont know...but this is a euro 525 e28 so I dont see those often...to all the old skool bimmer heads they can appreciate it...

Aight let me know what I could have done differently or what products to try next time....

For the cars, they definately look much better. Did you not get the 2.5 in time? I think both would've benefitted from it, then #9.

Couple suggestions.

-Dress those wheel wells! Even if you just spray dressing in there, it will look much better but for a more thorough job, hose down, soak in wheel cleaner or an APC, scrub with a brush, hose down, let dry, and dress.
-The heavier cut polish in the beginning will deeper cleanse and correct the more damaged paint on both vehicles. Follow up with #9 to remove any haze and bring an all around higher gloss finish. The LSP is just the icing on the cake.
-Don't forget the plastic/rubber trim. You can use a water based tire dressing, but I personally prefer Poorboy's Trim Restorer.

Nah the 2.5 came while I was in the middle of the civic....but didnt do the trim on the bimmer....he just didnt want it....dont knwo why..but oh well...

Now if ya I bought the Megs Compounding Pad..the 6" maroon pad....use that with the 2.5?

Will definately compound next time.....thanks for your help.....wheel well...definately....Thanks for the advice.....anymore ya can see?
 
I would always start with the least aggressive product possible to get the job done. However, with a very oxidized car I will always start with something like 2.5 and a polishing pad @1500rpm...If that doesn't cut it, I will go to a cutting pad and if that still doesn't cut it, then last resort is compound.

After 2.5 via rotary you will always need a finer polish like #9 or SSR1.
