1Z wheel cleaner pH = ???

wifehatescar

My L5-S1 is killing me!
I noticed on the back of my 1Z wheel cleaner it says non-acid/non-lye but my Guru reports states it tested as an acid.

Was it reformulated recently? What is the pH of the current version? Thanks.

Additionally, is it as safe as, say P21S or R2000?

I noticed this on their webpage. Looks like it may have changed since the guru days:

New improved formula is now acid-free! Still tough on dirt and stubborn brake dust but safer on wheels and the environment. Easy application removes brake dust pitting, grease and oil grime. Restores wheels to a like-new condition. Silicone-free.

They have two versions with the acid-free version being the latest. Just look on detailers paradise site to see the two.

Our non-acid/non-lye formula was released last summer of 2003.

pH values at delivery state:

Old formula: <2

Current formula: 9.8

Even with the current formula you must use on cool wheels and not allow to set more than the recommended time on the product directions. Even a strong detergent (which the new formula is) can discolor the surface if allowed to stay on long periods of time.

The new formula is safe to use on all wheels. :up
