1z steaking advice needed

Today I washed and clayed my '92 Jetta (white). The paint was really dirty so I used MPPC and it really cleaned it up. Then I applied 1zPP followed by 1zGW. When I finished I noticed a whole lot of streaking on the horizontal surfaces. Since it is white maybe I just can't see if there are any on the sides. I sprayed water and buffed but it didn't do a thing. Is the streaking from the wax or could it be from the polish? I may have applied too much wax since the can says "don't use sparingly". Then when I checked Einszett's website it says not to use too much. In any event is there anyway to remove the streaks? Do I have to re-polish and then wax again? Thanks for your help.



PS. I know that glanz wax is supposed to be really thin. This was the first time I ever used it and it was like water. When applied it did haze in about 30-60 seconds.
 
I canâ€â„¢t say that Iâ€â„¢ve ever had difficulty with GW streaking. Did you give it enough time to cure? Was the surface too hot? Did you use a clean microfiber or terry towel? Is it possible that the polish was not completely removed? Nonetheless, the solution should be similar to every other synthetic that streaks. If your QD was unable to remove the streaks, try re-applying a little GW to the panel and wait several minutes. Generally Iâ€â„¢ll apply GW to the entire car and then remove. Good luck :up
 
I did the entire job in shade. The directions say to let it turn to a haze then remove, so it hazed in about a minute then I wiped it off. I applied the PP with a terry pad and the GW with a Meguiar's foam pad. I used mf to remove both. I'll try re-applying GW and let it dry good then remove it and see if that works.
 
First of all, don't go anywhere near your car with terry. Use microfiber only if you can help it. Second, if you plan on doing some hand polishing (I recommend getting a PC) I'd buy one of those new Wolfgang polishing pals that holds a 4" foam pad. This will help you polish a lot more evenly. See pic below.



When using GW, I actually put mine in a spray bottle and lightly mist the applicator pad. I suggest putting it on as thin as possible and removing it immediately after applying it (wowo method). I believe GW has solvents in it (at least it smells like it does) so you can't layer it but you can certainly make sure you have one good even coat. Do one panel at a time and use front to back motions not circles. One the vertical surfaces use an up and down motion.



If you can't get the streaks out, I'd polish it again but with something like Klasse AIO, not 1Z PP. Your PP should be reserved for paint correction like swirls, scratches, etc. That being said, if the streaks are still there after AIO, then you WILL need to polish again with PP because it's probably marring or hazing you introduced while polishing with terry. Terry cloth by hand is pretty much the most aggressive method I can think of. Even using a Porter Cable polisher with a cutting pad isn't as aggressive as that.

I'll check into that Wolfgang polishing pad. That would be better than using a pad by hand as far as even pressure goes. Thanks for the help guys. I've been waiting all winter to do this and the weather is good now. If my car was ever done (other than an OTC wax), I dont' know when it would have been. It was filthy and now it looks pretty good for a 13 year old. The MPPC was fantastic. Made it look like it had a new paint job. So I'll work on trying to get those streaks out and I'm sure eventually they'll be gone.
 
I had a problem with GW streaking. Try to work with 1 panel at a time and apply GW in a very thin coat. Less is more. Remove with an MF.



When streaking occurs, spritz panel with plain water and wipe with MF. Re apply very thin coat of GW and remove with MF.

After checking again this morning, the steaking is on the sides also. It's only noticible when the sun in shining directly on it, but the streaks are there. Either I marred it with the paint polish or didn't apply the wax correctly, because the streaks weren't there before. The gw is so thin and clear it's hard to see when you apply it, so I don't know if that's it or if the using terry applicators to apply the polish did it.
