1st wash on new car

Howdy, y'all:



I'm going to wash my 3-week old car for the first time, the "right" way this weekend. I don't have a house, so will have to wash her at a carwash stall.



Any last minute suggestions? I've read a few wash related postings, but want to make sure I do it right. I hope using the 2-bucket method at a carwash stall won't be too difficult. I might even wax it, too.:D

Use a sheepskin mit, dry with a waffle weave towel or microfiber towel. If you wax, clay the car first. Good luck.
 
Make sure there's sufficient light so you can see what you're doing. Take your time, it's not a race :)

Thanks for the comments thus far. Do I really have to Clay? I'm a bit nervous about claying my car. Obviously, I've never done it.

The first car I clayed had 30k on it. I had no fear or hesitation going in. When I got done the car felt like it had a fresh coat of wax on it it was so smooth. I didn't get a chance to wax it that day and it rained shortly after. Still beaded like it had wax.



I have to do the same thing and use the coin wash. I use a sheepskin mit and once I've wet down the whole car, I grab the mit and start washing. Usually I've still got about a minute left on the wand, so I keep that in my off hand and rinse the mit quickly between panels until the water runs out. Not quite the two bucket method but the best I can do. Some big blue waffle weaves do an amazing job drying!
 
Don't worry about claying the car. It is easy. I did it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. My quick pointers are to make sure the car is clean first and use plenty of lube. I works incredibly well. You will be amazed how smooth the finish is. Read all of the instructional articles you can find. They will give you confidence.



FYI, you can pick up a clay magic kit at walmart for $9.50, includes lube and clay. Best deal on clay I've seen.
