1st time using zymol

Hi , this is my first post after reading around for quite some time , i am planning to do my car with zymol concours or swissvax smaradg...



which one is better for black car? i am looking for ultimate shine and depth on a jet black BMW



my paintwork is fairly clean of scratches and swirls... just corrected few months back by the local detailer...



my steps will be:



1.wash

2. clay

3.HD-cleanse / cleaner fluid

4.concours / smaragd



wait 24 hours



5. reapply concours/smaragd





did i miss anything? please give me some tips ,BTW i will be using everything by hand i dont have any rotary or porter cable whatsoever...

which wax? thats a though one, each has its own optical pproperties. I personaly like Concours better, as well as my expirence has show concours lasts longer. So my vote is concours.



as for waiting 24 hours, you wont need to do that, if time permits you only need to wait 3 hours.

Also, concours sweats alot (oils evaporating) so after 3 hours the paint will get the slightest haze to it, this is just the oils and will go away. Do a quick field glaze or cold water wipe down and you will be golden. The haze will disapear, the wax will be leveled and you will be ready to put on a second coat
 
Since you just had the vehicle polished by a detailer a few months ago, I would skip the clay. Especially because jet black BMW clear coat is so very soft, the chances of marring it when you clay are very high. Your process looks good, just skip the clay.
 
but my paint feels rough especially near the fender....



maybe because of all those road grime...



i will be using meguiar's clay and meguiar's quick detailer to clay my car..



is there any better way? or technique that i can minimise scratching when claying?

Unfortunately, you'll have to chose between rough paint with no marring, or smooth paint that's marred. Jet Black BMW paint is so soft that I *highly* doubt you'll be able to clay it without causing marring. It's one of the very softest clear coats out there. You might want to learn how to polish with a DA style buffer since you have one of the hardest cars in existence to keep swirl/mar free.
 
Nice start! If the roughness isn't severe, I'd skip it and build up your layers with concours. An EG zymol would be insanely deep with black and other dark colors.



On your next detail, you should clay, polish either with a swirl mark remover or a finish polish, and then use a choice of a paint cleaner (such as hd cleanse) or any other cleaner of your choice, and then the zymol I highly recommend that at some point you should get acquainted with a rotary or a random orbital buffer. Machine polishing will offer more precision and is much more effective in correcting issues like swirls and light scratches.



Lastly, don't rush your waxing with excessive coatings. Just do a coat at a time, and space the sessions out at least a couple of weeks in between. I think you will be thoroughly impressed. Good luck.
 
If you're talking about Megs white clay - then I say try it, I did and the stuff was too gentle in my opinion to do much. But this was on Honda paint - soft too, but not having done a black Beemer, I can't say how it would compare.

what do you mean by the cold water wipe and how do i do it? because some people say after applying it and when the car's bonnet is hot or under the sun the wax will start to haze...how do i prevent this from happening?



by the way how long do wipe the wax off after apllying it to the paint? 10 minutes? 15minutes?



or can i wait till i apply the wax in the whole car before wiping it off? lets say 20-30 minutes?
 
is it okay for me to use cleaner fluid / HD cleanse without claying first? my surface is not exactly smooth quite abit of road tar stuck on the bottom half of the car...



will the HD cleanse/clenaer fluid will be able to solve this and i dont need to clay?
