1st HD SPEED Detail

For one, you can polish first, use SPEED to clean the paint and top it for max protection. Or maybe your paint needs nothing but a light clean up. SPEED is perfect for that, and there is nothing wrong with using a dedicated LSP over SPEED. Also using SPEED alone is fine. Great idea for express details or if the person is short on time. Looks beautiful and you get some protection with it. People use ZAIO before Z2 & Z5, why not with the HD version? Will it last as long as ZAIO? I doubt it. But look wise alone SPEED is worth to have on the paint. When I was testing SPEED I used an HD Yellow cutting pad on top speed with 3D's new DA polisher on a trashed black toyota and the cutting ability was great. All cobwebs and swirls were gone. Didn't get rid of RIDS in one pass, but no AIO will. PS: Cuts much much better than Poli Seal or ZAIO

If you're going to top it, why not just use a dedicated polish that will cut harder and then top that?

That's cool man. I appreciate the explanation and certainly wasn't looking to put down the product.

I guess my only concerns would be the lack of durability on a 1-step correction. The customer might be disappointed in my work if I don't top it with something longer lasting when they see the protection failing after only a month or so. If I don't go for maximum correction on a 1-step with something like a yellow Uber pad or a micriofiber pad and Meg's 205 then the customer might be disappointed in the correction portion of the detail.

I'm in line to try HD speed and polish and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to do various 50/50 shots compared to various other combinations. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the real benefit of all AIO products. I guess customer satisfaction is my real concern since every detailer puts his/her reputation on the line with every detail.

Thomas--can you work HD Speed with multiple passes (as you would with UNO) for more correction? Am going to try SPEED on my VW Passat--it's 6 years old and never been polished, but never been through a commercial car wash, always washed with good technique and always protected. There are scratches and swirls but very light from what I can tell -- they are difficult to see even in the sun. I'll try test spots with green and orange B&S pads, but am wondering if I can do multiple passes.

Of course you can do many passes. However, my style is different from most. Even Tunch gets frustrated watching me go with very slow passes, but hey, it works for me. It should work just fine. but please post your findings.

I see, yes the car is getting a new stereo and by next week it should be ready for me to work on it. That is if the owner doesn't change his mind. You never know in Oregon. :D

Thanks Thomas! So one can do either a few faster passes or less slower passes for basically the same result??

Waiting for the Speed to ship. Once I have it I'll be doing my car and will post results. Thanks Again!

Yes. many years ago, one day I just slowed down considerably and I feel I get better results. However if you go faster, just make enough passes so that the imperfections are removed. The key is to not give up.

Thanks Again Thomas!! Your input is valuable to me as there are no "How To" videos regarding technique with 3D products. I realize I just need to DO IT, but it is great to have a basic knowledge before starting.

The car looks very nice now but the paint is very glossy and wet. Does FK1000 add to the wetness or is that attributed to the HD SPEED alone? I know most of our gloss comes from prep work, just curious about FK1000 since I haven't used it yet. Thanks for sharing.

That is very paint condition dependent. I'd say that SPEED is the easiest non wax product you will use

Please excuse my ignorance! I'm still trying to wrap my head around the AIO concept. Do you treat the application process the same as you would a polish, working in small sections and wiping off immediately? Or, do you apply this product over the whole car and then wipe off like you would a LSP?

You mentioned that you used it on a trashed black toyota with a yellow cutting pad. It finished that way? If so, that's pretty damn sweet!

All the wetness came from SPEED. Honestly, FK1 1000 is on the paint to protect only.

You can do the whole car or just 1 panel at a time. Makes no difference.

On the Toyota paint it finished perfect (in the sun) with the yellow pad made by 3D
