1999 Dodge Ram Exterior Detail, 56K beware!

...Dreaming on an E92....
Hey guys! A great day for detailing other than sitting in the sun

This was a detail for my sisters truck, her 1999 Dodge Ram. She helps me out a lot, so I always wash her truck for free and even detil it for free. It was in need of some TLC so I went to town with the HF Rotary today! I had some difficulties at first, I applied Megs Med Cut cleaner at 1,500 RPM's, and I was EXTREMELY careful to not use too much pressure or let the pad catch an edge, but the Med Cut was leaving swirls and marring like I couldn't believe so I switched to P&S's UltraCoat Polish, and amazingly it removed almost all the spider webbing and every bit of the marring! The only trouble areas were the hood and the top of the truck, but I let them slide since I didn't want to take a chance of leaving the truck in swirl city.

Process:
Dawn Wash
Clay
Ultracoat Polish via Rotary @1500-2,000 RPM's with a LC Megs Pad
Meguairs #20 X2, by hand
Megs #26 X1 by hand
Megs Last Touch DS for the finale

In between each coat (half hour in between each coat), I applied Armor All to the fender wells, P&S Wipe N' Shine on the tires, AIO/IG on windows, Blue Magic Metal Polish on all chrome, and P&S Shape Up on all trim

Sorry about the splotchy mirror and the dirt I missed in the fender well, I was trying to rush and finish everything up, and I didn't think about spiffing up before pics

I didn't get any up close shots, sorry about that. However, there's PLENTY of depth to the paint, and the metallic is sorta muted, but a good mute IMO. The only spider webbing left is on the hood and the very top, but like I said, they were pretty bad and I didn't want to ruin the finish. Maybe next time!

i got those same wheels....poorboys wheel sealent really brings some flake out on them....i didnt think they had much flake untill i put that wheel sealent on.

Actually, no...But yes I did

I went down to P&S and picked up a new sealant to try, along with some now needed new MF's, and a bunch of other goodies. On the way back, I stopped by her house and applied a coat of #20 to the wheels, I'll apply another coat when she comes by tomorrow afternoon. I don't have an actual wheel sealant or wax as of now, but I'll be ordering some PB's sealant soon!

Sweet, I'll make sure I apply a coat after I order some! Thanks!

Looks good. The Dodge rams have alot of real estate to detail.

Actually, it isn't too bad compared with even a small SUV. The hood (bonnet) is huge and getting to the centre is tough. But the roof is accessible. There are no bumpers for paint work, and the panels are large with clean cut lines. And unlike an SUV, no roof rack.
