It shows 97k now. Been since late Oct of 06 when I last polished it. I est. a 50/50 split between Z7 2 bucket washes and QEW washes.

Process:

Z7 wash

Z-18 clay with Z6 as a lube.

Z7 wash

Wheels got PB SnR

Tires and wells AM 777 APC

Wells got cheap tire shine

Tires got Z-16 x2

Paint:

Edge Green wool/ZPC/Metabo 1500

Edge Green foam/ZPC/Metabo 1500

LC white VC pad/ZPC/PC6

Z6 wipedown

3x Z5pro w/ ZFX

Some of the interior was done last week, the mats are about 3 yrs old.

Vac

Pretreat carpets and mats with Ultra Pac

Extract carpets and mats w/ Dry slurry in the Mytee 7080 tank.

303 fabric guard on carpets and mats.

ZAIO on all wood

1Z CP on all plastic surfaces

Z9/10 on leather

The drivers seat has had a rough life, one day I will re-dye it.

A few pics after washing and claying

I cropped this pic out to show the slight swirls:

This is the claybar after the trunk, not bad as its been almost 10 months since it was clayed last:

img1739gh7.jpg

All of the horz surfaces where like this and finally found some tar on the lower panels behind the wells:

img1740xx5.jpg

Did a little bit of wetsanding on the hood where this scratch was:

img1756ye9.jpg

2500 paper.

img1772ip3.jpg

After green wool/ZPC

img1778bf3.jpg

A few scratches on the rt rear door, there when I bought the car. 2500 paper had little effect so broke out the 1500, then followed again with 2500.

img1779gp2.jpg

Here is how nice the hood came out. My backing plate is on loan, so I had to use the larger edge foam wave pads. I know that I can finish down hologram free on a vette with this pad, but not today on this paint.

img1785kw4.jpg

It was hot as hell out and I am pissed about the holograms. Time to call it a day. Will run the PC over the car the next morning.

The sun was in and out for most of the early morning, so I decided to PC the entire car with ZPC and a white LC VC pad. Took about 45 mins and better to be safe then sorry.

Yup, thats consistency. Looks great, as for the crappy pic, i know that isn't a photographers idea of a great pic but i love pics like that, mirror like. Interior like that on a 100k, especially a light one, is great work. Have you detailed this car since new?

Paint looks great! Love this pic:

I'm guessing the paint is on the harder side seeing as it needed 3 polishing steps to remove those swirls.

Great work, those cars age very well.

Thanks Poppa! Its a little on the hard side. If I could of finished clean with the rotary, it would of only been a 2 step polish. Sometimes its just not your day.

car is looking better than ever. paint is crystal clear. interior is very nice too. great work.

Mr. Ikon, Thanks for your kind words. I try to keep it nice, that way only have to polish every 9-10 months.

Thank you! We bought it with 52k miles on it just over 3 yrs ago. The paint was in poor condition when we bought it, interior was clean. This car is what got me interested in serious detailing. Here was the first C&B I did on it.

Here are some pics from back then:

Stunning as ever Bryan!! :2thumbs:

Thanks Mike!

Absolutely stunning job...especially in the heat!

I see you're an avid sander too!

Great exterior, Great interior......Super Stuff Sir!

I gotta another black (actually 3 more black) Bimmer in the lineup 745Li, then an X3, then an X5 4.6

I'd like to do that color just for the breakout of black LOL.

Thanks Toto! A different color is always nice, but you are so good at black! :bigups

I can't really complain about the heat. I have a small portable AC unit in my garage, it drops the humidity about 10% and "tries" to keep the temp about the same. By the time I got fed up yesterday, it was 90° in the garage. :bawling: :grinno:

I know that some of you guys work in the real heat.

Looks great as always, really love that color too. :)

Thanks Scott! Once we saw the color of the car it moved up to the top of our list back then.

You keep her in *gorgeous* shape. That paint looks edible.

How's the reliability on that car?

Thanks Sean! If I could not work on it myself, I would not own it. It has a few minor issues that need attention, I'll get to them soon. :)

Common issues:

Radiator has a plastic neck that goes out every 50-60k.

The pixels in the drivers info center start going out a few at a time @ 80-90k miles

Lower/upper control arms at 60-80k miles.

:wow:

Great job as usual Bryan. These are the details I really like to see. Real cars living real lives that look like a "garage queens".

Your paint didn't show, at least from your pixs, much fall-off in gloss over the last 9 months.

At least you know the paint is good and protected for another winter.

Are you waiting until today or after the next wash to apply the Clear Seal?

Very nice, love the color. The best part about that car is that its 8 years old and doesn't look dated at all.

Thanks Frito! I would relly like to get some M-parrell wheels for it, but can't find them in great condition for a reasonable price.

When ya going to fix that dent in the LR Door? Looks like a candidate for PDR.

The sooner the better. Just happened 3 weeks ago. I was pretty sad to see that.

Thanks Edwin! The polishing brought back the gloss to a high level, but yes it did not look that bad at all before the polishing.

I should have time by the end of the week to do another wash and get some CS/Z8 on the paint.

Stunning work on a sweet car! The hood is remarkably free of chips. Have you had to touch up a lot to maintain the paint?
