This car is timeless in it's styling, and when this car was in it's production cycle I worked on quite a few and loved every job(Ferrari paint was thin on these but NO sand scratches in those days at least).

The owner of this car is not one of my uber wealthy guys and saved for a long time for this particular car and came over at his lunch time to watch me work on his baby for the two days it was in the shop.

The top and trim were in excellent shape as it was kept in a climate controlled garage in the midwest.

The beginning..........

Crusty wheels and tires

Wheel wells

DSC02638.jpg

Little bit of an insect issue

DSC02640.jpg

After a thorough wash I cleaned the top with a citrus cleaner

DSC02642.jpg

Here was a nice scratch on the rear bumper

DSC02645.jpg

Hit the scratch with 2500, then 3000 grit to level the defect

DSC02646.jpg

Corrected nicely with just a dab of touch up needed on the end of the scratch

DSC02648.jpg

This was one of the re-sprayed panels and it was hazy from shrinkage

DSC02651.jpg

After wool correction the panel has more clarity

DSC02652.jpg

This part of the engine cover needed air sanding to level out the defects

After intermediate polishing with Menz 106FA

After jewelling stage

DSC02682.jpg

Spent quite a bit of time fine jewelling with Menz 87MC

The results of that effort

Clean wheels and wheel wells

DSC02688.jpg

Broke out the steamer to clean the fuel filler cap of left over compound residue from the re-spray

Steaming the grills perforated holes which had left over wax residue

DSC02694.jpg

Applying CG fabric sealant to the top, now it will bead up as much as the finish

DSC02692.jpg

Touched up all the chips around the car with supplied touch up paint

DSC02689.jpg

Trunk area cleaned and rubber seals dressed with GI TRV

Interior ready to go

Looks amazing, Bob!!

It looks like the car is in pretty good shape for the year...

The owner is lucky to have found you to work your magic.

Great work Bob!

I am going to give the steamer a try with the wax residue. Definitely looks like it will save a lot of time. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Rick the owner is very lucky to have you help him out. He must have been very appreciative :)

Cheers!

Bob, spectacular as usual. The owner I'm sure was very happy when he picked it up.

Nick, The steamer works awesome with wax/polish residue, even super old caked on wax.

i love the raiders paint scheme, silver and black, with the ferrari yellow center cap and calipers...that is a gorgeous 355.

Absolutely beautiful work and attention to detail there Bob. His pride and joy is now restored to its original glory (or better).

I've got a 355 coming up soon myself.

Thanks for sharing your work my friend!
