1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Tons 'O' Pics!

Hard to believe this is the first time I have taken pictures of my car after a detail. I bought it in 1999 and spent the next 4 years driving it daily. Around 2003-2004 I quit driving it in the winters. It's got just over 100k miles and all original paint. Anyway, on to the detail and the pics.

Here was my process:

-Wash with GC and a microfiber mitt

-Wheels got Meguiar's Wheel Brightner and Cleaner Wax

-Exhaust tip got Wheel Brightner followed by Meguiar's Mag and Aluminum

Polish

-Mild Clay with Last Touch for lube.

-Tough to reach areas done with #105 by hand

-#80 via PC @ speed 5 on yellow pad

-#7 via PC @ speed 4 on tan pad

-#21 X 2 via PC @ speed 3

-Interior got Quick Interior Detailer followed by #40 on the upper dash and

Detailer Line leather conditioner on all leather

-Glass was done with NXT

Pics and lots of em!

A direct sun shot. The sun kinda washes the white out a little on film.

Wheels had Cleaner Wax, tires with #40. You can see the pattern of gravel thrown up by the tires on the front of the side skirt facing the tire!

Any questions or comments?

Built head, cams, DSMLink, 16g, etc. Funny how that used to seem like a lot but now it's a pretty basic setup. Lately I have been spending most of my car money on suspension. RRE bearing plates, Koni's, GC's with 8" springs and so forth. I'd really like to get into more road racing but I still need some stuff like seats...factory leather has my *** sliding way before the car wants to slide! And thanks for the comments guys. I have been slowly working the paint to where I want it for about 3-4 years now! Given that it is so old I didn't really want to get very aggressive. I have only had the rotary on it once. And that was only with #83.

Nice job on the eclipse. A lot of people rag on the quality of those cars, but I had a 98 that I took to 225K miles with very few problems until I traded it in.

White is my favorite color to detail--nothing comes cleaner IMHO. Great job again.

Thanks lex! Just like any car that is easy to modify you are going to attract some owners who try to make big numbers without enough knowledge. Something breaks due to their ignorance and they are all over the internet talking about who crappy the car is. Next thing you know people thinks it's unreliable. Go figure!

you have a nice one.. but one that looks to be extensively cared for. most used Eclipses that I see only have half of their paint left, cracked dashes, oil leaks, and are smoking.. they're really not great cars, so it's not just a myth.

While you are welcome to your opinion I would say that in my experience it's owner neglect and not the quality of the car. Every DSM I have ever known that was taken care of has been a great car. I think if you took a look around at other car still on the road that are 10-20 years old you would see similar issues. And thanks for the comments!
