1995 Corvette ZR-1 in Bright Aqua Metallic

Hey all. It's been quite a while since I've posted up any of my details. I am always on the site checking out others peoples work, but have been extremely busy over the past 6 months or so with work and personal stuff.

I am still working for Bay State Motorsports full time and detailing cars on the side as well. I have a brand new detail shop that I am pretty excited about and have been putting all my effort into setting it up the way I want and spending all my money on the latest polishes, waxes, products, etc.. I really miss posting on here and had the itch due to all of the beautiful cars being posted up lately.

This was todays detail. It is a 95' Corvette ZR-1, which is a true supercar. It's rated at 405hp from the factory! Not bad for a car that is 12 years old! The color is called Bright Aqua Metallic, which is extremely bright and really hard to capture on camera. It actually looks a little deeper in person. When the sunlight hits it, the metallic really pops causing the paint to glow. It only has 9,900 miles on it and was always kept in a climate controlled garage and taken out to a car show from time to time. The paint didn't need much correction at all since the owner was very meticulous. There were a few very light scratches and some shaffing marks from the car cover, but overall it was in exceptional condon.

My Process:

Washed with Werkstatt's AutoBody Wash

Cleaned wheels with Transmate Sterling Wheel Brightener

Cleaned tires, wheel wells and engine compartment with Transmate Kleens APC (dilluted)

Dried with microfiber drying towel and blew out cracks & crevices with compressed air

Wiped all door, hood and rear hatch jambs clean using microfiber towel and treated with OCW

Spot-buffed areas with scratches using Menzerna SIP using a yellow ripple foam pad (medium cut) by rotary @ 1800 rpm

Polished complete exterior using Menzerna PO85RD using a black ripple foam finishing pad by rotary @ 1400 rpm.

Applied Zaino AIO to complete exterior, wheels and exterior glass

Applied ZFX enabled Z2 Pro x2 to complete exterior with Z6 wipedown in between layers

Applied Zaino Clear Seal to complete exterior

Dressed tires with Kar Kraft Super Blue Dressing (wheel wells left untreated per customers request)

Now on to the pictures...

I think out of all the colors Bright Aqua Metallic is the rarest, but I may be wrong.

i would agree...only saw a red one here at a jag dealership....head work was done by lotus ...it is quite a neat car ..

Nice car indeed and the LT5 is a super cool motor! Nice detail too. Too bad the C4's look so dated now and any old vette is putting out 405HP now. In my mind that devalues cars like this and even the early Z06's (405HP or less depending on year)... I guess to a true Corvette aficionado it probably doesn't...

Anywho... Nice ride!

The market has really changed on these cars. They had a huge sticker price when new and stayed up in price for a while until the Z06 came out in 01'. They dropped down and now they are rapidly going up in value due to how rare they are. This particular car is worth about $45,000 in todays market.

It's been wild to see the market on those cars since they were introduced in 1990.

Seventeen years ago...wow

Well, this particular one appears to be a very nice example.

I love the body style of those C4s. I guess there is something about the smooth, yet chiseled look that appeals to me. I sometimes wish that Chevy would have continued the overhead cam design of the LT-1 into the LS-1.

Mmm, nice and wet. I remember a lot of your click and brags from last year, and always enjoyed them. Be sure to post more of your exceptional work! :)

wow sick car! i normally dont care for that gen of vettes at all but that one is just gorgeous. what price were they asking for the car?

See what I mean?? You've obviously been paying attention around here just by your product choices. Your quality of work is somehow even *better* than before. You were missed man!

KILLER JOB!

I'd believe it and I can see why they are desirable to many. For me, I'd opt for a new Corvette or a new Z06 Corvette over the ZR-1. Better looking (subjectively of course), just as quick if not quicker and no parts hassles/availability problems. But again, I can see why people love them.

I have a friend that has a ZR-1 as well as two extra motors. He lives for the LT5 :)

I couldn't agree with you more. I own a 2003 Z06 Corvette (405hp) and couldn't imagine spending MORE money on a ZR-1. It's definitely a car that will always be special, but for $45,000 there are far better choices out there (in my opinion). The difference between my car and the ZR-1 is that the ZR-1 will always hold its value and my car will probably keep dropping (probably even faster now that the 505hp cars are out).
