1995 Avus Blue M3 restored by dsms: 150pics/+Vids

Many of you know Dave from his posts, but irregardless of his age he is one of the top guys in the country as I have seen this with my own eyes @ the SEMA show this past November, hell when I was Seventeen I wasn't doing world class correction jobs but goofing off as much as possible.



We all learn things from each other, whether it is product usage or other things that develop the service you might run.

Very nice write up and great work! If I had half your knowledge about detailing when I was 17, id be a lot farther in life than I am now! Keep up the superb work my friend.
 
Solid work. I know what you mean about some colors being very difficult to capture the defects in, but I think you did a pretty darn good job. It is also clear that you added a considerable amount of gloss and depth to the paint. Two big thumbs up!



On a side note, I really like those smaller pads and backing plates... any details on where we could snag some?

Hey dsms, thanks for the tip on the Fenix TK10, my wife bought me one for my birthday( same as yours, mine is black though, i'm assuming you use the turbo mode on yours when inspecting your work with it?), i can't wait until next month to move into a house with a bigger garage. I'll also be purchasing one of those spotless systems you have, i 'll be using mine with my pinnacle foam gun. Outstanding work as always dsms.:2thumbs:
 
Great job! I totally miss my car now after reading this post. I had a 97 techno violet until someone totaled it :(. I just picked up a replacement for it today though :), 04 Alpine White m3. I truly enjoyed reading your post and great job on the car. You really inspired me to pick up some more products ...

Love the small work areas in the videos - that's how I do it to perfect the area you're working with and not overdo it by enlarging the area to get it done quicker. A great view of how it should be done!



Many regard the E36 as the BEST M of all time and I love that color.

I realized it takes a long time to photograph and do a write up but in a way I was able to learn a lot from other detailers writeups and from there formed my own style and way of doing things. Hopefully some people can take bits of info from this write up and adapt it to what they do.

I like to work small sections at a time, I stay away from pads larger than 6.5inch as well because it helps me focus on one section at a time

The TK10 is a great light source for paint inspection. One of very few lights that can easily pick up holograms. And yes I always use the turbo mode for the full 225 lumens. You can see everything better that way but it will drain the battery quicker.



For all those who are interested in the gloss it 3" BP they are available, just email gloss it because they are not on the site yet. They are in limited quantity so you may not be able to get one right away.
