Hello everyone,

Here is a Volvo I detailed this weekend that hasn't been washed waxed or driven in about 5 years. My father decide to put it back on the road so I detailed the exterior for him. I washed with QEW in the garage and then clayed the entire vehicle. Next I used the W7000 cutting pad with #85 on the hood and trunk. Next I went over the whole car with DACP and W7000, this was followed by #7 and then #20. Turned out decent for a 15 year old car.

Look great! But i suggest polishing the lights for your dad, get rid of some of the yellowing!

Thanks for the comments everyone. About the lights, I'll have to wait till this weekend to get some more supplies but I think time has taken it's toll on those permanently.:)

You might be really surprised how well you can bring back lights with some Novus or some metal polish. My bet is you can at least make them look better. Check out Lynn's PlastX post somewhere around here.

Great work!

Great work!

I saw Lynn's post and the plastic turned out great. I picked up some Plastix today and I'll try that this weekend, but I'm not getting my hopes too high.

:bow That is one of the best transformation's I have ever seen:xyxthumbs

About the light's, wet sanding with the finest sandpaper, compound w/rotary, swirl remover w/rotary, wax/sealent. That worked like a charm on my old MX-6.

If you decide my method, don't get scared when the light's look scratched up after wet sanding, buffing will take that out. Just make sure to use the finest sandpaper (600 grid is perfect)

If anybody decides to do it, please post before and after pics. I wish I would of, my headlight's looked brand new when I was done.

Hope that helps:xyxthumbs

Juggalo, thanks for the info. I have some fine sandpaper at home, so if the Plastx doesn't work then I'll switch to that.:)

Looks good! I doubt any liquid abrasive would do much in restoring those headlights - my parents were Volvo fanatics, and I have experience working on their yellow lights. I would pull off the whole cover and do the underneath as well. Be careful though; the plastic may be brittle and crack.
