This is my new baby, I picked her up a few weeks ago. It had been sitting outside unused for 6 weeks. Wow, the paint felt like sandpaper. A little swirling, but not too bad... just annoying pinstriping and lots of heavy scratches and some other stuff that are now currently out. After I got it, I put it in the shop immediately to have all the stuff under the hood rebuilt (hoses, belts, gaskets, fan, bushings, sensors, etc, etc, etc). Then the first day I got it back, I spent 8 hours on it the next day detailing it. This was all a couple weeks ago, I've just been too lazy to post about it.

Process:

- Meg's Gold Class Shampoo

- Mother's Clay (3 hours! It was bad!)

- Wash Again

- Prep

- Meg's #83 DACP on PC at 6 w/ LC orange pad.. only on the hood (hated it)

- Pinnacle Swirl Remover on PC at 6 w/ LC orange pad

- Meg's #80 Speed Glaze on PC at 2 w/ LC finishing gray pad

- Meg's Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax (1 by machine, 1 by hand)

- Mother's Showtime Instant Detailer Spray

- Stoner's Invisible Glass

- Meg's #40 Vinyl & Rubber

Didnt get to the interior til just yesterday, the leather seats look great. I have only one crappy before picture, so whats the point of afters. Anyways, here are the pictures.

Not totally complete... still need to polish and wax under the hood, and the trunk. I also need to complete the interior. There is still some minor minor minor marring. Waiting for my ssr2.5, ssr1, pb pro polish, and p21s to come in the mail to do all this over again next saturday :)

wow, what a transformation. thats one of my fav classic bmw's. i hope to find one in good condition one day. how many miles did this one have when you picked it up?

Wow :hifive: congrats on your ride. It is a great find and looks to be in fantastic shape visually. Those are some really awsome pictures. I am jealous

Wow you really brought that car back to live, awesome job on the detail :bigups

I also must say I'm envious of those pictures, very nicely done.

That came out great. I love how the pictures turned out, especially the parking garage ones. Nice work.

Might I ask why you hate the DACP? I am debating buying some.

Great turn around, BTW!!

Well, I've tried it on 3 different cars since I bought it. I only liked it on one car. The other two cars I only sampled it and didn't completely use it because it is a PITA to remove. Here is how I used it. Dabbed it over the area I was using it on. Went straight to speed 6. One pass horizontally, one pass vertically, then another horizontally because it was still a little wet. Then I tried removing it with the best MF I had. Most came off but not all. So I used a dampened MF, that was a no go too. I had to do 2 passes over the spot with Pinnacle Swirl Remover for the stuff to come off.
