I bought the car a year ago, it was a Queens car that hadn't been cleaned in at least a year or two, lots of mold spots & oxidation.

Went through two clay bars, did the usual wash, then put on two coats of collinite 845 by hand. Nothing too impressive, but I wish car makers still formulated paint that was as resistant to wear as this!

No "before" pics except this one (wheel cleaner 'melting' off the caked-on brake dust):

Does anyone have info on late 80's paint in terms of any clearcoat, or any waxes/treatments that are more effective?

I like seeing clean older Hondas. With some different wheels and a new piece of molding, that car is looking great for 20 years old. Nice work.

Honda used SS paint for many of their colors back then (I am not sure if all were SS or BC/CC). Collinite is a very good choice for durable waxes.

Thanks guys! Unfortunately the car is a 37k+ mile/year daily-driver, so all the money goes towards general maintenance & upkeep...

4Cruzin, absolutely amazing Legend/post! It's a shame they don't style/engineer cars like that anymore...

Yeah me too :-) Surprised there is no visible rust on it.. Most Japanese cars from the 80s and early 90s had terrible rust proofing.

heh, there is what appears to be a TINY bit.. 5th picture, looks to be about 1-2 inches from the bumper in the wheel arch. But, for 20 years old, impressive condition.

This one looks to be in very decent shape. I still see these running around my area, however, with plenty of rust. It's testament to a well-engineered econo-car.

Good luck with it, it looks quite good :xyxthumbs
