1987 Porsche 928 S4 from gray to black again...

gmblack3a- Those pics *really* show off what a nice job you did. Heh heh, when you mentioned the Metabo and Bret in the other thread I was thinking that it'd look like a toy in his hands :D Bet he found it mighty user-friendly.

rydawg-My good painter absolutely *swears* by those sanding pads. He wanted me to use the 1500 ones on my M3 but I chickened out (to my lasting regret). Their 4000 grit ones seem mighty nice too.

That is one awesome restoration, it never ceases to amaze me the work that some of you guys are able to accomplish, absolutely amazing!!

What is your impression of the Metabo?

Thanks everyone for your kind words!

The Metabo is a very nice, lightweight, well balanced machine. I highly recommend it. I have been considering it for a while now, my only regret is that I did not purchase it sooner.

Fellas - That car looks absolutely GREAT.

I think this might be your biggest turn-around yet.

Way to work as a team to get the job done. It makes short of the nasty work.

Congratulations to both. :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow

:goodjob

Thanks pyiu!

Thanks Jim! Even with both of us working on the car, it might of made the job shorter, but it still took a while. I believe it was around 15-16 total man hours. :buffing:

I know this must be a dumb question. Was that single stage paint? Did you have a mil gauge or just go by look and feel while wet sanding?

Anyway, OUTSTANDING job on the turn around, you likely added $2000 to the value of that Porsche! One of the best looking Porsches ever made IMHO.

Thanks Wade! Hope to find all is well with you.

Barrett, Thanks for your kind words. The paint was not SS, it had a clear over it. I went by what Bret told me, he said we where fine to do another wetsand step, plus we where only using 2500 paper. A paint gauge is on the short list.

awahl63, :thx for your kind words!

Bryan,

Is there a local store selling the Presta line?

Lee, A local place near me wanted $27 a quart. I got a few quarts off of ebay for $15 each plus shipping. I had also bought the black wool pad and edge adapter from the same place.

Damn, simply amazing work! :bow

As impressive as the paint restoration was, the interior work is equally impressive.
