1987 Corvette (Torch red)

This Corvette is a 1987 with only 12K original miles. Every bit of the car is original including the tires. It has all original paint which was getting a bit dull from never being properly maintained. There was some very old wax that was caked in all the nooks & cranny's that was a nightmare to get out. There weren't too many scratches, but lots of fallout on the paint and stains etched in from bird poop. The older C4 Corvette's aren't known for having the greatest paint, but it was in surprisingly good shape. The interior was like new except for the stench of mothballs (Yuck!!). I wasn't able to take any before pic's. All in all it came out well for 19 year old paint.

The process:

Washed exterior & cleaned engine compartment

Clayed & washed again

Buffed with Optimum Hyper Compound using foam cutting pad

Buffed with Optimum Polish using foam finishing pad

Werkstatt's Prime by hand

Pink wax by hand (great stuff!)

Tires & wheel wells dressed with Super Blue dressing

Back to black for body side moldings/ trim

polished wheels with Wicked Metal Polish

Here's the pic's:

I use Natty's Blue all the time. I just purchased some Pink Wax, so I have been experimenting with it on different colors. It seems to be an excellent carnauba base that looks incredible topped with Natty's or Souveran. If I had some more time, I would have topped with some Souveran.

 Hotness!

Really superb work, Rick. :)

Just FYI, you might want to snag a bottle of Prime Carnauba, looks even wetter than regular Prime on red and black.

bringing back memories with that....had the same one....white top and all.

BTW, you polished clear coated wheels with a metal polish (unless owner removed the clear) which is what I did!!)

good detail!
