heres a few pics for now to get your mind flowing. if you have a question post it up & i will try to get back to it when i can. this is the 2nd time in about 10 years that im going to rub down the body with my hands. ive bumped into the customer a few times in the hood recently but he hasnt asked me to do the car in a long long time. the other day we went for a lil ride so i could see her & on his workbench were 2 old framed pics from the last detail. they are mine now =)

the job calls for a complete old skool handjob & happy ending with a stainless steel blending pad. i must have total concentration for this one & go with the grain. work slow & do it in long strokes. the light imperfections on the surface are difficult to capture on camera. if you stare at the car long enough you start to see them. there are no deep scratches just light marks is the best i can describe it. some are not going with the grain so i will have to spend more time on those areas. i will find them as i work around the car.

Nice description dude! I feel like I need a shower now! :chuckle:

thanks mike. well that was one dirty handjob i tell ya! ha!

round one done. time to wash up & walk the dog. up next: spray the car down with light mists of water & tape all black trim again. i gotta double & triple check the grain for "consisency" lol. the next round is the tricky part. yea, that was the easy part!

Hopefully there aren't too many severe scratches or blemishes Andrew. If there are, he's going to have to see an authorized De Lorean dealer! :rofl

well this job wouldnt be complete without wetsanding a lil paint dont ya say?

the idea is to reduce not completely remove the peel & get rid of those ugly water stains.

i folded a new sheet of 2500 & with my hands i rubbed them together to deaden the paper a bit.

Are you going to create a mirror finish on the body too or just leave it brushed?

leave it brushed with the grain as perfectly straight (east to west) pattern as i can get.

Please wear gloves!!!!

:nono: well its too late for that & i dont wear gloves when i wetsand either. you need to feel what your doing with your fingertips. the latex would throw things off. + i dont want my hands to stink like corn chips from sweat lol!

Nice, there is a guy down in Texas that makes movie props for sale and for customers. He would love to turn that car into a Time machine. The real deal no ebay cheap stuff either.

patiently waiting for me...& ronnie!

its nice to always have eyes on the front gate lol.

im using picmonkey to "create a collage". what do you guys think? i like it.

I finished polishing the Lotus Evora S around 11:30pm on sat. She spent the night with me & was picked up around 8:30am on sun. After a short run on the highway from the garage to the show I went over her one last time with some Mothers california gold spray wax. I never leave my lucky yellow paintbrush behind or my lucky camo hat!

I finished this beauty on sat afternoon. She spent the night with her owner. As Ronnie was taking some more pics of the Lotus I sent a text to Harry to see where the DeLorean was...& there he is admiring his ride as I give it a second pass with 3M stainless steel cleaner & polish. I did this at the garage on sat but she needed to be fresh for all to see!

full writeup comming soon.

its now time to resume writing again & get this one finished up. heres one of the judges checking out the ride. the DeLorean didnt win anything, there was not a class for the car but its all good. the victory for me was making it this far. to stand there & admire the car with the doors open & ready to fly away was just a special moment for me!
