Today's detail was a 71 blazer with s/s paint and lots of scratches and dog claw marks. It was painted 4 or 5 years ago and has never been touched. The only problem was when I polished some of the areas where the dog claw marks were, the paint lighter tinge  . It's hard to tell from the before pics but the paint was very oxidized and dull. Total time on this one was 8 hrs :buffing: . Onto pics & process.

Terrific job on the scratches-in the pics they looked too deep to remove. Shows why I tell people I have to see their car in person to give an estimate, pictures aren't always enough. Just looking at the before pics, you'd think a repaint was in order. Was that a single stage paint job? Usually that gives you more paint to work with in removing scratches.

I bet the owner was pretty happy with your work. :)

Yes it was s/s paint. I'm still puzzeled though, the claw marks I polished out have taken on a fadded or lighter look. I don't believe that normal for s/s paint as I have done many. What do you think?

Does it have a dixie horn :)

And yes, when stuff is mostly polished out, you can still see a little something left behind, cause you probably didn't go all the way down on it. If it goes deep, theres no way to go all the way down, so a little trail will always remain.

Thanks for the kind words. I just finished washing the purple out of the pads :faint: . My wife just reminded me what I said the moring of this detail " well I guess it's time to polish the old purple popsicle" she started to LOL it was then I realized what I had said :o .
