What a great site! I've found several great detailing ideas. Thanks !!

I introduced my self way back in Feb. of this year and got caught up in work. life and showing my Ghia over the summer.

A little backround.....

I have had Ghia's since the mid 70's (my 1st car was a 67 Ghia) I think for a mass prodused car they have some of the most beautiful lines. I bought this one in 1995 with the idea of using her as a nice weekend driver. Well, one thing led to another and soon she was disassembled to the point that if I wanted to do a comprehensive and detailed restoration this would be my chance. Finally, in 2006 she went to her 1st show "Volksfest 16" in Columbus Oh. and took 1st place in the Ghia class. Since then she (I call her Sophia as in Sophia Loren. She had great curves too!) has won many awards and recognition. I love to drive and show her whenever I can. I had the opportunity to take her in my 1st concours, the 32nd annual Ault Park Concours. What a great experience! I hope to get invited back. Here's a few pics;

Amazing shine to that paint. Car looks great for being so old.

Thanks!

This was a repaint done on a rotisserie. Color is a PPG color called Arrival Blue.

This a GM color introduced in 2004.Clearcoated with Glasurit brand paint. My painter added a bit of pearl to make it a bit more unique. I have never washed it! Just wax, an occasional clay bar and spray detailer.

The Glasurit clearcoat was a very good idea. PPG clear can be very soft and easily marked up in between cleanings. You did indicate this is a garage queen so you dont wash it much if at all. The guy who painted this VW new what he was doing. This car looks great ... thanks for sharing it.

Very nice. Funny, I never realized they had back seats.

Thanks for the comments!

They were for small children and smaller pets I think. I have heard the reason they included a rear seat was a two seater cost more to insure.

Here are a couple of more pics;

This is what she looked like the day I bought her in 1995. Really not too bad
