1966 Dodge Charger Exterior Correction

I am going to be getting my Souveran and OGOHG in a week or so, and I am wondering about a few things. What would be a decently priced car wash soap that would be easy on the finish? MGC, or OG?? Any other suggestions? Also, any suggestions on QD's? I was thinking either EF, OGSO, or FI. What would be a good course of action for me. I don't want to go crazy on price.

Thanks guys,

Brett :xyxthumbs

Best shampoo for the $$$ for use with Souveran is P21S. It will not strip the wax, it cleans well, it rinses easy and the smell is great.

I have used P21S shampoo before and second David's recommendation. It smells like apples and is super slippery.

For a QD, I would suggest OG Show Off or EF Clear Pearl for Souveran. The Meguiars FI has no canruba in it to replenish or help make the Souveran last longer.

So a bottle of P21S shampoo (maybe S100 for cheaper), and either OG Show Off (great by the gallon), or Ef Clear Pearl.

(PS I currently use EF Clear Pearl for glass and OG Show Off for paint.)

Just completed detail, this car needed exstensive correction as the body shop left quite a bit of defects behind. This car would have been a great candidate for a re-wetsand of the entire vehicle, but with readings in 700 micron stage the bondo was was there in copius amounts and I did not trust the thickness of the clear(Time to get a DeFelsko 200 from Phil when funds allow...).

This was a referral from the Charger owners brother who I did a Mustang for in the old shop.

Here is the Charger after the wash/decon step..... severe holograms and wetsand pigtails throughout the entire car, my goal was to level the finish safely and bring as much clarity and gloss as possible without wet sanding.

Wetsanding haze and shrink.

044.jpg

Different angle of the shrink evident on rear drivers quarter.

047.jpg

Bodyshop who sanded and cut the car must have did it in the dark!!!! = Hackness.

051.jpg

More display of fine bodywork skills.

Pigtails so deep all that was missing was the "Pig" lol.

005.jpg

Enough complaining.....it was time to make this car look nice for the client, correcting the defects.

008.jpg

Corrected.

010.jpg

Entire drivers door levelled, which also cleared up the shrink using Edge wool pad(Black aggressive).

011.jpg

Not good.......

015.jpg

Some improvement.

018.jpg

Sand scratch dullness.

013.jpg

Cutting thru the defects.

021.jpg

Clarity restored.

027.jpg

Shrinked up passenger rear quarter......

028.jpg

Looking dialed in........

029.jpg

030.jpg

More pigtails.......

033.jpg

Handled.......

034.jpg

Heavy holograms from cutting.

039.jpg

All gone after DA polishing with Megs D/300(love this stuff).

040.jpg

On the home stretch......after 40hrs(Tiredness had been achieved).

043.jpg

Another "Issue" I had to deal with was the white mud from left over compound which required steam/and or QD and fine brushes to remove.

044.jpg

045.jpg

Evidence of the "Crustness".

046.jpg

Removed.....

048.jpg

All done!!!.

A friend of mine had one in white with a 383 with 440 heads and I use to love riding it with him during the summer months up north looking for stop light racing! ( crazy period of my life )
