Hi Guys I wanted to share the build with everybody here and i will continue to post updates as they come, we've been working on this project for over a year now and still got quite abit to do. This is my second build and im still very much a noob in the field but love every minute of it and continue to learn.
Well Ill start us off......
This is how where i joined in, in the build, the car belongs to my gf's dad and he's been building cars for years.
The floors pan been replaces, we added rear quarters panels where needed, apart from floors and quarters everything is original.
inside shot, the interior was red from factory
This is the motor we put in a little 283 but i convinced Big AL we needed bigger, so we've got a big block on hand to go in :eyebrows:
Big AL working it
well we got everything roughed in, time for first coat of primer....
All the primer spraying was done in the garage, not ideal but works fine for primer
We blocked the car with 320 work the panels straight added bondo where needed and back to sanding again...This takes forever!!!!!!:hairpull
The inner fenders were paint in the garage PPG Black, bc,cc
so after all sanding was finished another coat of primer was sprayed , guide coat applied to make sure everything was straight. When we were happy with the outcome with put it on the trailor and took it to the booth.
On the way to the booth we had a blow out on the trailer luckily no damage was casued...
This was only the 3rd time i had done a complete re-spray so the pressure was on to perform....
couple hrs later!!!!
I put 4 coats of clear on so plenty of room to cut it down
Started to wetsand, most of the car was done with 1000 grit worked upto 3000, some parts were hit with 800 grit
i was pulling my hair out to find the best combo for this paint, ppg paint, black anyway is really soft, softer than Honda/Porsche. I just could find the the right combo to finish out perfect....for that matter im still haven't finished the paint. i gather that lots of work had to be done, getting dusty that it was pointless to finish until everything else had been done.
I started to compound M105 wool, then several differnet pads/products....I switched to surbuff pad and worked like a dream, you can go from surbuff m105 to black 85rd....
we're currently working on getting the new engine ready and also in the progress of laying sound deadening to the floor, ill add new pics as the come. This might take some time to finish but stay tuned....Thanks for looking
