1957 F-800 & 06 Vette FULL DAY !!!

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
This Saturday, I got a much needed early start on this incredible nut and bolt frame off rotisserie custom 1957 F-800 Truck. Although I have detailed a few F-100 from this era, I knew that I would be in for a full days work on a large truck like this. I started the detail at 5:30 AM, and did not complete the wash process until about 7:15 AM. The entire truck was covered in bugs due to the fact the truck was shipped on an open carrier across the US for the past 10 days. The fender wells are highly detailed in basecoat clear coat yellow and black, but did have a considerable amount of tar and dirt to clean up. Once clean and waxed, you could see yourself shaving in the fender wells reflection. I spent approximately 2 hours on the engine bay, and on my back under the undercarriage beneath the engine bay. These areas gave me the most satisfaction, because it revealed the amount of work and attention to detail the restoration had taken. The entire truck was restored piece by piece, and could not find noticeable flaws in the paint even in the underbody.

All of the bright work on the truck was polished with Speedy Metal Polish. The chrome on the truck was spectacular. The diamond plate and rear wheel fenders were a bit of work to make perfect, and the rear fenders put 2 small but bloody lacerations in my forearms as struggled to make the underside as pristine as the front fender wells.

The cabs paint was real nice, and aside from a light clay and buff I opted only to hand wax with S100, because this truck will never see rain, snow or harsh road conditions again.

No break for lunch as I finish a complete 360 around the truck, and looked to touch up any areas I may have neglected. Did the glass and stepped back to admire, as I realized it was nearly 2 o’clock. Time flies when you are having fun!!! I must admit I have detailed just about every Porsche, Corvette and quite a few rare Ferraris and other exotics in the past ten years, but it is refreshing to get “charged up” to detail something unique that you can truly appreciate. Enjoy the pics!!!

Oh BTW… It did not end there. The customer (and a very good one) asked if I would detail the exterior of a 2006 Corvette Convertible in Metallic Burgundy w/ black int.
Had to say yes, because the car was so pretty, and I was so charged from the 57 detail. I buffed the car with Optimum Polish and sealed with Meguiars #21.

Taking off tomorrow for Fathers Day.

Happy Father Day!!!

Boy this is one that brings back memories!!!

Very nice work!!!

I really enjoyed reading your post. I could feel the excitement you had by the work that you showed. Would have enjoyed other angles of the big Ford truck.

Thanks for the big smile you put on my face. Enjoy your Father's Day!!

I'm in awe, that truck looks incredible. I just love how clean EVERYTHING is! The wheels look incredible too, good work!

While you did a great job on both vehicles, I'm shocked at the finish of the truck. You really did an amazing job and should really be proud of yourself.

When I saw 1957, I thought it was a misprint. That truck is incredible. Almost short-circuited the keyboard from the drool. Beautiful, just plain beautiful.

That truck is amazing! Your work was incredible. Your detail spent on the undercarriage, wheelwells, and engine really showcase the time and effort spent in restoring that vehicle.

Amazing work man!! I love seeing the before and after pics.

You did spectacular on that truck (and the vette too). Looks like a ton of work, but it turned out perfect!

Way to go!

Excellent work on both, but especially on that truck. Great photos as well showing the befores and afters..

Thanks guys !!! These are the details that really keep me enthusiastic about going out each morning. I really love the old fat fender trucks (especially the F-100), and hope that I am not to old to enjoy it, when I finally get mine. Too see this truck in person is to really appreciate the time and effort that went into this project. I knew that this beauty would be appreciated here.
