Nope, my grandfather had the floor start button in a early 50's De Soto.
 
It's the high and low beam switch. Usualy the starter button woulb be toward the middle.



One day I was driving my 64 Galaxie to work and the switch started to go out and jump from high to low. The guy in front of me got so mad he pulled over, waited for me to pass and started to flash his highs in my mirror. When we got to a light I let him know what was going on it made him even more po and he bolted cursng me.
