1931 Ford Model A detail

I was lucky enough to be able to detail this very special car a few weeks ago, as some of you may remember.

What I did:

Waterless wash with Wolfgang Uber and Cobra Supreme 530`s
Wheels and tires were cleaned with a combination of CG allclean+ and a heavy saturation of Wolfgang Uber WW and some wheel designated MFs
Top was cleaned with CG allclean+, a brush, and some MFs
Decon with Nanoskin fine grade sponge and Wolfgang Uber WW as lube
Paint was inspected with a few different flashlights and a little in the sun

Diagnosis: not good
The students that maintain the car CLEARLY have no clue how to maintain a painted surface properly

After some testing I decided on my GG6", with maroon B&S Uro-Tec pads with CG V36, and yellow B&S Uro-Tec pads with McKee`s 37 Jeweling wax. The paint was pretty finicky and soft overall, but a few random spots were harder and required a few extra passes with V36. Thankfully this combo worked because I did NOT want to compound this car.

I finished up with 2 coats of Blackfire Grinch wax, 1 coat of Natty`s Blue, and 1 coat of Natty`s Red on the green paint, and 3 coats of Natty`s Blue, and 1 coat of Natty`s Red on the black paint. All coats after the initial Jeweling Wax layer were removed with chilled spray and gloss.

Tires were lightly dressed with CG V.R.P

Glass was cleaned with Wolfgang Uber WW

5 coats of wax and this gorgeous classic had some serious shine, which the guys were blown away by.

Here is a 50/50 of corrected(right side)and not corrected(left side). Corrected is a whole new shade of green!

Hope you get to teach the care takers too in the process of taking care of it but if not you`ll have job security lol

I was actually going to be hired to do maintenance on it, but unfortunately I can`t for the rest of this year while I wait to have surgery on my knee(torn meniscus).

That just means I`ll have to do at least a light polish early next year, but after that I will be the only one maintaining the finish.

Great work and good choice using the Grinch Wax. It made the green pop. I believe the Grinch Wax is green colored BF Midnight Sun. Whatever it is it looks great. I hope Autopia or AG brings back the Christmas waxes this year. I`ve still got one Grinch and one Reindeer wax. I kinda hate to use them up.

I got a jar of the rudolph and the grinch in an order as freebies from Ray. I`ve used the rudolph on my red car, and the grinch on this green. I quite like them.

I don`t know that I would buy them since they were like $40 a piece when for sale though....

Honestly, the places where I couldn`t finagle my buffer into(which weren`t as many places as you might think)I just put a few extra coats of wax on those places to fill as there really just wasn`t time to try and polish those areas by hand. I spent something like 12hours on the car over a weekend, but the guys that handle the car couldn`t really give me much more time.

where on earth did you get a crazy idea like that? lol

great work!

how did you like the Grinch wax? I have had a pot a while and thinking about using it on my SRT when Xmas comes around.

I liked it. Easy on, easy off and great shine. Just definitely don`t do a thick layer

the jeweling wax was his 2nd step on machine
all wax layers were after that

the purpose: shock and awe! try it sometime :) it`s addictive!

find your inner wax waster
