180K mi. Ford Crew Cab Pickup (Burgundy)

I friend of mine purchased a couple gift certificates from me for a complete detail for each of his 2 brothers. Their birthdays are 1 week apart and both of their cars were severely neglected and in need of a good detail. The truck is a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew with 180K miles on it. The paint was covered with contaminants, swirls and some good scratches that only wetsanding would take out. I recently bought some Menzerna products and decided that this would be the perfect vehicle to test them out with. I recently bought PG, IP and FP II.

First I washed the entire truck, cleaned the wheels, tires and engine compartment. I then used tar remover to get the bulk of the tar & grease off that covered the bottom of the truck. I used Pinnacle Poly Clay to clay the entire truck to remove all the contaminants from the paint.

I wetsanded all of the deep scratches with Meguiars 1500 grit wetsanding paper and followed behind it with 2000 grit. First I tried PG with a yellow foam cutting pad which was not cutting it as good as I thought it would so I used some 3M Microfinishing Compound which took the wetsanding scratches right out. I used the PG on the entire truck to remove all the remaining scratches and swirls from the paint. After the PG I used IP with a seperate yellow foam cutting pad and followed behind with FP II using a white foam polishing pad which took out any swirling left behind from the IP. Not sure if I really needed to use the IP in between the PG and the FP II because the FP II did so well, but It was my first time using the producs and I wanted to be safe.

After all the polishing I applied AIO and let it sit over night until the next morning which I topped it with some Natty's Blue Paste Wax. You can definitley see by the pictures how deep the paint turned out, but it got dark when I was taking the pictures. When the owner took delivery he called me right away and thanked me for the detail and told me he couldn't wait to show it off at his work. He ended up calling me back the following day with 3 other details.
