Uhm...nothing I'd ever recommend to anybody else! Hey, it was the '70s :o At least I had a good time, which is more than a lot of people could say about celebrations back then.

Don't get so wasted that you either have a lousy experience or can't remember it. Maybe go somewhere different from your usual routine, spend some time thinking "well, here I am at 18...". Give thought to who you were/are/are gonna be, where you've been/you are/you're going, and about what you think/believe/care about. I'd write it down so you can reflect on it (years) later.

Spend the day mindfully.

Nothing major for my 18th, when I turned 19 it was different since that was the legal age for drinking back then. Didn't go too nuts though.

accumulator, you remind me of the person that people seek for advice and wisdom in movies/books. one of those people who lives on top of the highest mountain, as far away from civilization as possible, yet understands all. just thought id share my thoughts

Funny thing was, once I turned 19, I lost interest in drinking. Hell, I don't even drink alcohol at all anymore and haven't for about 16 years. Don't really like the taste and the only reason I ever drank was to get drunk. Just outgrew that a long time ago.

Interesting ! I didn't drink much at all in the 19 to 21 age range, and when I did, it was also to get plastered (hey that's what teenagers do right). Now I find myself enjoying a glass of wine with dinner, or a beer from our local microbrewery when bbqing. Not with the intention of getting drunk of course, but just as an enjoyable addition to food.
