13 months later and ONR is still keeping this Escalade beading

I had a badly oxidized pick up truck to buff out, but first I washed it with ONR and it was beading from the wash . It also had somewhat of a luster after the wash . ONR is great stuff.

Scott, I'm reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly tempted to use ONR, but everytime I see vieos of it I almost cringe because it just seems like it would marr/scratch/swirl like crazy.

Have you had any negative experiences using it, maybe on softer cc'd vehicles?

Anyone that has not tried ONR is going to be a skeptic...until they try it. ONR has a HUGE following for a reason. Do you really think people like Scottwax would use it if it weren't as good as advertised? IMO, you are missing out on a staple product if you don't try it.

Plus, you can get an 8 oz. sampler bottle for $8 + shipping. Compared to what some people on here spend on waxes, ONR is a bargain, even more so when you consider how many different ways you can use it.

No, that's part of my rationalle for it - if people like Scott use it, it must be atleast half decent.

But...it's....still..a.....scary....concept

The two things I"ve been wondering though are

- can you use a regular m-f wash mitt with it .... the directions say to use m-f cloth (I suppose they're close to the same thing, but maybe the mitt traps more and/or doesn't release as much dirt when you go to rinse it?)

- when you're done washing, do you have to do anything special to your mitt to clean it out, or just regular flush and wring out as normal?

The biggest reason I'm attracted to ONR is because I have a ***** drying - my water (Well) is VERY hard and VERY mineralized (e.g., I can kill a CR Spotless resin flowing at 2.5gpm in 2rinses), so as soon as I turn my back on it, it's streaked and stained and whatnot. Makes it impossible to wash a car and dry it properly. ONR would be very attractive because I could pressure wash as the first stage, then go panel to panel and dry as I go.

1 - I prefer the cotton chenille mitts for washing with ONR. But it's a personal preference.

2 - Your mitt of choice will most likely just look "stained". As long as you rinse it out, you'll be fine. You could however throw it in the washer with your towels (assuming you're going to use a MF mitt) and it'll look a lot cleaner.

If you have hard water like that, ONR is going to be your best friend. We have ridiculously hard water here where I am at as well but it's not an issue when I wash with ONR. Even if I do a traditional wash, I will still add an ounce of ONR just to help with hard water.

EDIT: Just for reference, I like to use these kinds of towels for drying.

What you think and what actually happens are too completely different things. I was skeptical too, the first time I used a rinseless wash (QEW-Quick and Easy Wash) but was amazed that I could wash a car with so little water and not have any marring or swirls.

If you watch the Cayenne video I put up, you can see how quickly the dirt just disappears. The polymers in ONR encapsulate the dirt and when the wash pad is dipped back in the ONR solution, the dirt falls out and to the bottom of the bucket.

I prefer to use a microfiber covered foam pad as my wash medium and any quality MF towels will do a fine job drying. Personally, I don't like using waffle weave towels for ONR and even conventional washing. Just not enough nap for my tastes.

Do you spritz anything like QD onto the towels before you use them? Or just straight up use them?

Also, have you had any negative experiences with the ONR? For example, on a soft clearcoat like an Infiniti, or a realllllllllllllllllllllly soft clear like a Bentley?

I use the single bucket method, no pre-spraying. If the car is really dirty, I just change the water out halfway through.

Never had any issues on any paint with either ONR or QEW. Just as with conventional washing, most marring/swirling problems are operator error. Poor technique, wash medium or drying towels will yield substandard results no matter what product you use to clean your car.

I ordered some, gona give it a shot :buffing:

Please tell what's coming out that's stronger than ONR! I haven't had any marring using ONR and my Lake Country Big Blue sponge
