11 Hour EXTERIOR Detail..My F-150

I did just an exterior detail on my own black 98 F-150 that took me 11 hours with a few breaks and in extreme heat. It turned out well but until I get some PB SSR 2.5 or even a rotary, the paint isn't going to be perfect. Its not ever going to be perfect though...the paint is getting old but I'm going to keep it looking good for as long as I can. Here is the process:

Wash with Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash
Dry with waterblade..put in garage over night
No need for clay, straight to PB Spray & Gloss on entire truck, wipe with MF
PB SSR 1 with PC(speed 3-5) and Edge blue polishing pad (Fell apart)
PB SSR 2 in some areas with PC(speed 3-5) and Edge blue polishing pad
PB SSR 1 over areas that got SSR 2 with PC and polishing pad
Skipped PB PWC straight to sealant
PB EX with PC(speed 3) and Meguiars finishing pad
PB Natty's X 2
PB Spray & Gloss X 2 after detail and before photos
Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel

Let me know what you all think!

thanks for the comments you all. Yes it is a 98! My uncle actually bought it used from a guy that took very good care of it..only used it when he had to pull his boat. Then my uncle got it and kept it in his garage and hardly ever drove it except on vacation or running around since he had a take home Expedition for the police department he works for. He then sold it to me to buy a hot rod. The paint looks good from a distance but the hood doesn't look very good. I dont know if its just showing age or if its what you call "orange peel." If I replaced the hood the truck would look brand new! Thanks again for all the kind comments on the truck and the new house. WIsh I could say the house is mine, but its my parents. I'm living with them for a while since I just graduated from college.

What do you use for the chrome areas?

I actually don't even use anything on the chrome. Actually, the only chrome I have is on the bumpers and I just keep those clean with soap and water. The grille guard is stainless steel so I use soap and water on that too. I need some recommendations on what to use on my aluminum toolbox. I'm either going to get a Mother PowerBall or just use my PC with the foam pad that came with it to shine the toolbox up. I didn't have time to go out and get aluminum cleaner before my gf came to town so I haven't got around to doing it yet. Thanks to everyone for the comments on my truck and my parents new house. Its theres but I sure am enjoying it a lot. Maybe after we get everything done around here I will post pics of the entire house.

Very Nice!!!!!!

PS: Anybody in your family have a Vette? The house in the pics looks a bit familiar. (Pics on another forum)

No no one in my family has a vette. Funny you said that because just last weekend I was crusing through my neighborhood and one of the houses near me was having a Corvette get together and there were Corvettes lined up down the street. There must have been 15 Corvettes. It was awesome and of course I didn't have my camera with me. Maybe one of these guys is a member on the other forum you were talking about!

HA! I bet that's it. On corvetteforums.com there have been a few gatherings at people's houses lately for BBQs and stuff. That might be it.

That's a beautiful Ford you've got there! :bigups

Isn't it amazing? If you care for your vehicle, and know which steps to take to keep it looking good, a paint job can look like new for a long time!

EDIT: I've seen some amazing results when people use the Powerball or Flitz on diamond plate boxes :cool

its running great (knock on wood). No problems at all. I use synthetic oil in it and keep it changed every 5-6K miles.

Your hard work sure does show on your truck! Wow, it is hard to believe it is 7 years old. Love the looks of it, how do you like the K&N intake? I bet you can hear it when you put your foot down!

Its actually not a K&N intake. Its called an Air Force One intake. A lot of guys/girls with F-150's go with this intake because of the increase in HP. It whistles just sitting still but when you go wide open, it howls! It sounds awesome plus I have Flowmaster exhaust so it really makes some noise.
