10 days, a lot of cars, and....the attack of the Audi's!

Hi gang - lots of details today, I apologize to anyone with a slow internet connection. :)

I'll go in chronological order.

The first of 8 Audi's, one of the tougher ones... a 2000 B5 S4, black of course. Overall condition was pretty rough and of course the paint is hard as a mutha. Process was:

HTEC+OP / yellow @1800-1900

IP/RMG/orange @ 1600

106FF/white @ 1300

The next Audi, this time a 2001 A4. This was far and away the toughest of the bunch. The owners girlfriend had "chipped away ice with a chipper" so the hood and rear deck were... :nervous2: Those white marks in the pics are actual scuffs. LUCKILY my PTG measured a lot of paint on the whole car, so I was able to "go to town" with 2000 grit, 3000 grit, and the rotary. This one took awhile and was the most paint I've ever removed, but it was that or respray...

Process was:

Sand front hood, rear deck and rear fender tops with 2k, and 3k grit.

Entire car EC+OP / megs wool @1600

HTHC / orange @ 1900

106FF/white @ 1300

A small spattering of really deep goodness:

Some of the worse scuffs, visible in normal light obviously. Some were down into primer, most were just bad scuffs.:

A new BMW 328i sedan to break up the onslaught of Audi's. This was clearly washed wrong by the dealer or a local wash place. The paint was very hard. Oddly, BMW's new metallics seem really tough, and the flats really soft.

Process was: HTHC/orange @1500

106ff/white @1200

Back to the Audi's. This is a newer S4 but with the older body (2005.5 or something?) so it's the V8. Paint condition was good but the front and rear bumper were bad resprays unfortunately.

Process was: Clearkote VM/white via PC

CMW buffed off with Werkstatt CJ.

BMW 335i convertible... a new car prep, nice and leisurely.

Werkstatt Prime Strong, AJT. They look a ton nicer in person than in pics.

Audi A3, decent shape so it was a one step job. A little wetsanding required some for a chip, but overall very straightfoward. Tough paint on this lil' guy.

What? Another Audi! This time an A4. Another one step, more tough paint.. some deeper stuff on this one.

Oh, the wheels... they were rough and I wanted to show how sometimes acid is the only option (imo). The first shot here is after I scrubbed with soap and water and a spoke brush THEN used a ph balance wheel cleaner and a brush... this dust was not moving.

a.jpg

So then I soaked with 3:1 wheel brightener...and sprayed w/water, no agitation:

Then I soaked again and agitated w/brush.

106ff/white @ 1400, it had some light marring.

It was 9pm, so we got pizza :p

Mercedes ML350; this one needed a bit of work. Had a fair amount of deep marring and some swirls, paint was very hard; it was a full day job. The owner was not happy with the LSP he was using, so he wanted something "deeper", so I went with the deepest I knew how on black.
