1.15 / liter of gas?

I just spent $80 to fill up the blazer with premium. Its close to 1.159/liter, which is close to what 5 dollars per gallon? I found that pretty crazy. I could feel the screw job on the backside today. :(

Why would you use premium gas for a Blazer? I'm quite sure the manual recommends regular 87 octane, at least thats what it said for my '94 Jimmy. It says to use a higher octane gas when towing or for the performance. I doubt your towing too much and if you *really* want the performance then you should not be complaining about the price.

Yup gas prices increasing effects everyone. I am *SO* relieved with my car purchase :dance .

27/33 mpg on regular, not to mention its an ULEV vehicle. With a Maxima I would never get MPG like that, not to mention it required premium gas. :scared:

I'm sure all the people who "had" to have their "Super Duper Big" SUVs are loving these gas prices now. What a joke :furious: . Not only to make things worse car manufacturers will continue to produce and make these SUVs. With all of them on the road i'm sure we'll deplete all the gas in no time; then we can have fun traveling on public transportation. :nervous:

I should consider myself fortunate. Here in Jersey, we are still just below 2.30 a gallon. I found regular for 2.29 today. I filled up ol Blue and still had a few bucks for a large DD coffee. Jersey is suposed to be the cheapest in the nation right now but they make up for it with car insurance. I pay $2500.00 a year for a 2004 pickup and I dont have one single ticket on my liscence. I understand a 17 year old male is up around 4-4500 a year. slightly lower for a female. They get you one way or another.

Isnt a rather vast qty of our oil, imported? Government has everything to do with Americas energy problems.......

I wouldn't say a vast portion. Based on the 1998 energy info (latest available as far as my quick google gave me) in 1998 we consumed about 36 million BTUs of oil, and producted between 13-14 domestically. This comes out to roughly 61-2% of our oil as being imported. Yeah, it is still a lot, but not all of it comes from the middle east. At least half of our imported oil is coming from South America.

OPEC is basically an oligolipoly who sets the prices and every other oil producing country is like "alright, lets just go with the flow and maximize profits." Anyways, the point is, yes we import a lot, and yes we get probably 25-30% of it from the middle east, but that's only part of the problem. You cant blame the gobernment for where the oil companies choose to import their oil from. Yes, they can exert some influence, but then we turn into the "Ugly American's" everyone already despises.

Let's face it, oil prices aren't going down (well, the bubble might burst in the next 18 months according to the stuff I'm reading) significantly in the near or mid-range future, so let's just suck it up, pay the prices, and get the government and oil companies to get producing oil domestically or find some other way to produce our needed energy. It's too late for the most part now, all we can do is work for a better future energy situation.

Have a good night/weekend everybody

I wholly agree with a.k.a.Patrick...The goverment could step in on this ..there is price gouging going on like crazy....example...one town with a Mobil station sell gas a t 2.49...5 miles down the road another mobil is 2.59..they both must pay the same for bulk delivery.

Just one wants more profit...

We only get 17% of our crude from middle east..rest comes from mexico..venezula..russia..and north atlantic and canada..which by the way holds the largest oil reserve in the northern hemishere...canada get oil from the sand deposits which I believe is in Alberta..not sure ..

Now the kicker is..all our oil from Alaska and Texas and gulf of mexico and any other places we produce ..is sold to Japan ..higher than OPEc prices per barrel..It's kinda funny..BUSH is an oil man...so are his friends....It's all about profit..MONEY..supply and demand....

Look at motor oil...needs more refineing than gas or diesal..with additives to boot..still the same price...right...you do not use it every week so the demand is not there ...per say..

The killer will be home heating oil...big demand during winter...all that use oil for heat..price goes up as cold spells come in..DEMAND...

Loook at airlines..they burn plenty of fuel...but you see adds for cheap fairs all the time...

do they pay 2.50 a gallon for JP5 fuel...they would be broke if so...what about public transportation..buses..did the fairs go up No..cause the price for fuel is Goverment regulated.....

I was told today the gas in NYC was at 3.02 a gallon...

All in all I believe the goverment could step in and do something..But our higher up's are rich..and the Rich want to get RICHER...

Our reserve oil is to busy supplying a war...

The tricle down effect is yet to come...
